Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is this week's UK boxed No.1, and the second biggest game launch of the year.

The EA game sits behind Hogwarts Legacy but well ahead of Resident Evil 4 in this year's list of fastest-selling boxed games in the UK. It is also the eighth biggest Star Wars boxed release from the last 30 years.

However, the game's opening week's sales are 35% lower than what its predecessor, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, managed. This chart is only boxed sales, and although Fallen Order was only released in 2019, digital accelerated quite a bit during the pandemic. Therefore, the comparison may not be quite so negative when the full data is in later in the week.

82% of the game's sales were on PS5, while 18% were on Xbox. Again, this will likely change when the digital data arrives, due to the popularity of digital on Xbox platforms.

Last week's No.1, Dead Island 2, slips to No.2 in the boxed charts. It's an impressive second week for the game, with sales only down 45% week-on-week, which is unusual for a AAA action game (the drops tend to be a bit more severe). Deep Silver has already revealed the game has sold one million units, which is a strong result in this market.

Here is the GfK UK Boxed Top Ten for the week ending April 29, 2023:

Hilarious. I also enjoyed the sad defense force bs the article tries. No, the digital split will put it even MORE in PlayStation’s favor.

Xbox gamers DO NOT buy software. Microsoft is in for a rough few months. They’re gonna get steamrolled everywhere.

We have some here that do. Just unfortunate the way MS has decided to go policy wise. Even Nintendo, the pioneer of the traditional model has had to suffer the up and downs.... but just cause you have doesn't mean you should throw a hissy fit and try to change model all together to some trash. Wrong mindset seeking control backfiring.

Why do you think Bloomberg made that article

Seems like the UK is closed for Xbox business.

Even if the Xbox is like 85% digital and PS is like 65% it is still a massacre. There is just no excuse, Xbox owners don't buy games and now it's not only happening to Japanese games.

It’s a massacre simply due to the volume of PS5 consoles that exist and overall software sold.

This ship is not turning around before Starfield. But that doesn’t matter… PS5 momentum is record setting.

It’s a bloodbath. This gen has been crazy already :ROFLMAO:

Xbox has gone from having no games, to having no life. It's dead, Jim.

Good to see _______ is still doing well and in the top 10. ________ sitting at number 5 shows it has legs.

Again, this will likely change when the digital data arrives, due to the popularity of digital on Xbox platforms.

Why do they always repeat this as if it's fact? Is there data to suggest that PS5 users don't also buy a lot of digital and thus would increase Playstation's share even more?
It also doesn't matter if it's 90% digital on Xbox and 65% digital on PS the numbers are so far apart the Xbox still gets smoked. This is happening on one of the markets where Xbox is most competitive.

It's just lame that third parties don't disclose sales splits of their games, it would expose MS so bad and completely change how people see Xbox/Gamepass.

I feel like this is the double edged sword of Game Pass. Xbox gamers are being conditioned to not buy games.

Not only that they are conditioned to want games for 'free' but they are also weaponized against Sony specifically for not putting games in their service day 1.

Yet their poor logic doesn't extend to Nintendo.

It's so sad that it is fully apparent that many of the Xbox community online are motivated by a hate for PlayStation rather than a love for games.
I've said many times, taking games off PlayStation excites them more than any new IP or gaming innovation.

It's just fuccing embarrassing for Xbox at this point, these sales splits. But you don't see Bloomberg Takahashi writing doom & gloom articles about their actual rapid and significant decline in software sales, now do you?

Utter clown.

I feel like this is the double edged sword of Game Pass. Xbox gamers are being conditioned to not buy games.

They've become increasingly content with what's in the service and will stick with that in lieu of buying new games at release (or at all).

It also doesn't matter if it's 90% digital on Xbox and 65% digital on PS the numbers are so far apart the Xbox still gets smoked. This is happening on one of the markets where Xbox is most competitive.

Well for the UK market we known PS digital sales are almost 2x higher on average than Xbox digital sales, so statistically that would bear out for Jedi Survivor as well.

Meaning UK physical & digital combined, Xbox might have only accounted for roughly around (or maybe just slightly north of) 16.5% of total sales on console. That is absolutely pathetic.

Again, this will likely change when the digital data arrives, due to the popularity of digital on Xbox platforms.

Why do they always repeat this as if it's fact? Is there data to suggest that PS5 users don't also buy a lot of digital and thus would increase Playstation's share even more?

Nope. For the UK market data suggests PS outsells Xbox in digital by almost 2:1. So it's very probable to statistically state that Xbox accounted for less than 20% of the sales on console across physical & digital combined.

I don't know who writes these articles but if they wonder why they aren't getting traffic and clicks, inaccurate assumptions that fly in the face of public data is one reason why.

Yeah, same happened with RE4 Remake

73% of Resident Evil 4's boxed sales were on PS5, 14% on the Xbox consoles, and 13% on PS4. These splits will likely not be as extreme when the digital data comes in, as Xbox tends to have a stronger digital share vs physical.

We know how it ended

Why in hell that Mario Kart remaster is still selling? And why is it selling more than the actual Mario game?
