that's the real problem with these fake insiders and fanboy channels pushing their wish-lists as real, tangible, actual news.

Indiana Jones does not exist. If it does, it's an idea on a piece of paper right now, much like Fable and Perfect Dark are.

these are fake, controlled 'leaks' pushed by a very malicious group who want to give the illusion that Xbox's paltry release schedule isn't as dire as it is.

"The Dangling Carrot Games" is what I call them. It started with fake announces like Phantom Dust and has grown into what you see before you today.

The thing about a lot of those announced games that are still years away is a lot of them aren’t even that exciting. Like who even cares about state of decay, everwild, perfect dark, a sequel to Hellblade, etc?

Just wolverine alone is far more exciting than anything they’ve announced and thats one game by one studio thats coming out after they release another game.

Quite frankly most e3 shows for years have been boring as shit and waste of time, not just Xbox.

Dissapointment year on year with the occasional year somebody would have a decent showing.

i don't know, i've walked away from the past couple of nintendo directs incredibly excited.

the last state of play was exceptional as well. Though those shows are less consistent overall.

MS has been terrible for years now. Their lackluster indie-reels are doing more harm than good.

i think there's always a disconnect with what we expect, because of what the twitter shills and fanboys tell us, vs what we actually get. (with Xbox).

Unfortunately, take Indiana Jones for example. Nothing short of an uncharted-tier, balls to the walls action romp with tons of blockbuster setpieces, climbing, and top notch visuals FULLY EXCLUSIVE to Xbox will do now.

anything less and the reveal will fall flat.

then when reality hits, and we're faced with a middling-looking, multiplatform licensed game that was thrown together on MS's couch-cushion budget and liassez-faire development standards, outrage ensues.

then we rinse and repeat for every game Xbox 'INFLUENCERS"/ fanboys hype up.

I mean, i don’ t get it, like on paper xbox fans want something they think is gonna rival uncharted so they can point and say “ah ha we got uncharted too” but realistically Machine Games is not and never will be Naughty Dog. Not even the other sony studios can make a game like Uncharted, its a series particular to ND’s key strengths and anything else is gonna feel like “uncharted at home”.

Similar to how people saying Hellblade 2 will be their God of War and im just like stop it. Ninja Theory is not gonna go from Hellblade 1 which was like an actual walking sim to making a God of War tier game. It’s Ninja Theory.

A lot of people think all you need to make a sony game is a big budget. Like how people say GoTG is just like a Sony game, like uh…. Maybe in 3 categories out of 5. It has the writing, music, and polish but its mechanically very underwhelming.

The secret ingredient of a Sony blockbuster is competent controls and gameplay.

This is so true. I remember one E3 I fell for a rumor from the Xbox community that had a new Ninja Gaiden, a new Splinter Cell, Banjo and some others coming exclusively to the Xbox One

take a look at battletoads for instance. that was a 'dream' announcement for some, before they saw what MS actually had in store for them, that is.

Battletoads was robbed of its chance to make a successful comeback. That IP is tarnished beyond repair now.

So is Crackdown. After Crackdown 3 that IP can never resurface.

It's honestly better to release nothing in these scenarios.

it's always strange to me, their list of demands is basically for Xbox to give them what PlayStation is giving its customers. And when that doesn't happen, they get upset. Most recent example is the FF7R meltdowns.

There's no exclusive club in order to buy a PlayStation, no sign up fees, no ritual, no grandfathering-in process,no blood-pact, nothing. The barrier to entry is a few hundred dollars, that's it. You can't make the excuse that you can't afford it when you have a system that costs just as much in front of you. Sell your Xbox. Save a few bucks. trade in a few games. Then you can buy a PlayStation and the constant disappoint (and borderline torture it seems) will end.

That's all you have to do to get your uncharted-type game, your AAA-single player game, your God of War competitor, to stop getting skipped on Japanese games and JRPGS, and whatever other fantasy announcements they've been dying for, this past decade now.

that's it. that's all you have to do.

now go out and do it.

The problem is they want all those games and they want them for ‘free’

I doubt xbox fans would actually go out and pay 70 dollars for Final Fantasy 7 remake like playstation fans did. They want it and they want it day one on gamepass, and even still the majority of their audience won’t even bother to download it.

They had full marketing rights to Scarlet Nexus with week early demo’s and previews and they hid the fact that it was on playstation with all the marketing. I know a lot of people that didnt even know it was on playstation.

Yet, it still sold the majority of its copies on playstation just like every other japanese game.

As much as some like to try to make fun of 3rd person AAA games, this is exactly what Xbox needs more of at their shows

Show more exclusive AAA 3rd person over the shoulder games and fix the pacing too. A lot of those smaller games can be announced at other shows or just uploaded straight to YouTube
They don’t even have to be exclusives. Just highlight them.

I'd bet it's coming with the movie. Seems like it could be a tie-in game, which usually doesn't bode in well.

This doesn't apply to every Xbox fan though. I bought FF7R on PS4 for $60 digitally and then upgraded to the PS5 edition for an additional $20 including the Intermission DLC so this Xbox fan spent $80. Now, if you mean would I spend $70 for the game on Xbox? No because im not waiting to see if/when a game that I want to play comes to Xbox.

I do agree with you in general though. The amount of people that I have seen bitch about FF7R not being on Xbox yet they keep saying they want to play it is beyond ridiculous. I know getting a PS5 is a pain in the ass but if you really want to play FF7R (or any exclusives on it for that matter), wouldn't you try to get one? Also, with all the money Xbox fans have been saving due to Game Pass and not buying $60 or $70 games anymore, you would think that they could easily put those savings towards the other console for a game they supposedly want to play.

While im hyped for Wolverine, im also hyped for State of Decay 3, Perfect Dark and Hellblade 2. No interest in Everwild though. If it was up to me, that shit would have been cancelled already.

Now that I can see happening. While SS has excellent talent, making an action adventure game with a skilltree, weapons, and good acting shouldn't be too hard to do. I think HB2 will be very competitive to other 3rd person action-adventure games.

we will see, but that sounds a lot easier said than done. They are pretty much changing the entire premise of the game to fit a AAA mold at that point. The experience of Hellblade was always meant to be a small cerebral and personal journey.

Them trying to make it a big action epic will be a lot more challenging than making god of war naturally what its always been.

I think you’re underestimating how hard it actually is to make a game like that. And, no, hellblade won’t hold a candle to GoW.
I mean, you’re basically saying Souls games are easy to emulate and they aren’t.

To me their E3 is often disapointing because they always overpromise and sometime they will overpromise a promise...But to be fair the blame isn't just on MS for this one.
The likes of Grubb, jez corden and Tom warren have a tendency to MEGA OVERHYPE it...I was hyped for this year's E3 because honestly they have barely put out games since they release the series consoles. And that hype was partly due to those "insiders" that kept telling us that every studio from MS had send a gameplay video....

Liar Reaction GIF by CBS

Sure they only supposedly talked about the next 12 months (except for Kojima) but after the event my only though was "That's it ?"Starfield underwhelmed me, I didn't recognize Arkhane's work on Redfall and I don't care about Forza...It is hard not to think that after 3 years they haven't even matched what released day 1 on ps5.I have been wainting for them to put out games for about a decade because more good games are good for gamers and for the industry.
But so far I mostly heard Spencer talking and promising the moon, maybe he should just climb a moderately tall building first. If he succeds then his words will matter.

That may be true. But NT did make DmC and that's exactly like GoW in game mechanics. It's not like it's their first rodeo.

We can argue all day about games being hard or easy to implement. At the end of the day, we can go by statistics. Plague is a good 3rd person action game. It was a great game about rat-killing. But FS2020 is a completely different and way more complex game and the same studio implemented both.

I'm not saying GoW is a simple game to create. I'm saying a 3rd person action-game is extremely popular and most developers have had experience with making one. You can't claim that NT (who has already implemented a 3rd person action game like DmC) doesn't have any experience to make HB2 compete with GoWR just because HB1 was a "walking simulator".
