I’m still very found of consoles and physical media but with PC and Steam meeting 90% of my gaming needs, I just prefer to focus on one platform. The Steam Deck will be the cherry on top.

Yep, there's a long stretch where I only played on PC, then bought a PS2 at the tale end of that gen for a couple games (God of War I and II, Okami, Shadow of the Colossus, Resident Evil 4, etc.)

Then, in 2013, the PS4 was announced, but I knew it wasn't going to be backwards compatible, and I didn't want to skip all those great PS3 games, so I bought a used PS3 and subscribed to PS+. During the whole PS4 gen, I played on PS3, and got great deals on used games. I've collected quite a collection.

When the PS5 was announced, and full backwards compatibility was confirmed, I knew I wanted it day one. Got lucky and nagged one in November 2020. I now got a huge backlog of games from PS+, and am subscribed to PS+ Extra.

Nintendo games look fun, but I'm not really interested in buying more than one console, and the whole 'portability' doesn't sway me. I only game at home on a big screen.

Nothing on Xbox ever seemed compelling to me.

Since the Master System.

Had a Mega Drive and SNES but it was only when the PS1 was released that gaming became a passion for me.

Been a Sony fan since though I have a soft corner for Nintendo.

N64 is my second favourite console after the PS1.

Owned every console since the Master System from Sega, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft except the Xbone and XS.

SEGA MD2 originally, followed by SEGA MD2, CD2, 32X combo station.

PS1, PS2, (got Saturn, DC, GC with first job money), X360, PS3, PS4

PS5 & XBSX - due to Jim Ryan's less-than-smart quips around PS5's launch, the decision to do so mostly being rescued by retroarching PS1-PS2 games ironically, seeing as how Sony are slow with their own BC support.

SEGA MD (Analouge Mega SG) - Do SEGA games feel weird on non-SEGA pads to anyone else? There's something about that MD/Saturn D-Pad man, nothing else feels as good.

Sony fanboys are pissed XB isn't competing on game quality, just purchasing their advantage. Without that push, Sony get complacent and we as Sony fans eat less. A complacent Sony makes mistakes or misses opportunities. And they cant afford to just rest on PS4's laurels as the landscape changes underfoot with factors beyond their control.

Fuck I wish SEGA had have survived into DVD/broadband era Internet. What would people even like from OGXB library that wasnt a "dreamcast sequel".

Alright here are the 90's version of me:

I Started with N64 in 97 i believe. I was only 3 when my family got an n64 and mario 64. We also had an atari and pack man but we barely played that.
then got a gameboy pocket in 98 and a GB color that same year as well or shortly after (could of been 2000).

The 2000s Version of me
Got GBA I think on my 8th birthday and shortly after Gamecube in summer of 2002
But on Christmas of 2002 my family got a PS2 as well. (That became my brothers dot hack machine)
In Christmas 2004 Me and my bother got a GBA SP each and some time in early 2005 a DS
Then in either later 2006 or really early 2007 we got a Nintendo Wii
In March of 2008 my brother got a PSP
Finally in July of 2008 I would get a PS3 with MGS4 and PS2 BC.

The 2010's Version of me
I would eventually get a vita in march of 2012
and a wii u on launch day November 18th 2012.
Then I would get a 3DS XL on March 2013
July 25th, 2014 get an SNES from Amazon
In Christmas of 2014 I would get me and my brother 2 see thru 2DS for the 10 year anniversary of the GBA SP's
I would get a New 3DS XL (Majora's Mask Edition) on April 13th, 2015
and in September 2015 order me a Super Mario Maker Wii U Bundle I still have sealed, probably goes for a lot now
On March 2016 get two PSTV's
January 1st, 2016 get the other Zelda new 3DS XL that I think came out with Triforce heroes
March 2016 get a new 3DS that wasnt an xl
July 2016 get an halo 5 Guardians Xbox One that was on clearance
Get an Xbox 360 on October 1st, 2016
an Original Xbox that kind of works on Christmas 2016
Then in March 2018 I got a PSVR (Before I got a PS4 because I was waiting for July of 2018 for the 10 year Anniversary of when I got the PS3 to get the PS4 Pro.)
in May of 2018 I got a SNES Classic
July 2018 got a PS4 Pro used because there was a huge PS4 shortage in the summer of 2018 and only like 2 walmarts in my area had a new (regular PS4 not pro)

So far in the 2020's
July 2020 got a second vita
November 12th, 2020 on launch day got a PS5
( got two Xperia Phones so far in the 2020s does that count as a gaming machine?)
Also the oculus quest 2 since last November.

Hardcore Nintendo from 97-07 with a little ps2 from 2002 til now.
A pswii (ps3 and wii) guy from 2008 to 2012
A wii u and vita guy in 2012-2013
Wii u and 3ds guy from 2013 -2016
Wii u, 3ds, pstv, and xbox one guy in July 2016 to July 2018
Ps4 pro/psvr/pstv guy in July 2018
Ps4 pro/pstv/ps vita/psvr/ps5 guy since 2020

Anyway since 2018 I've become a mostly Sony Player due to seemily Microsoft slowing down on xbox support shortly after I got it. in early 2017 scalebound was announced to be canned, Crackdown 3 no showed 2017 and 2018. While I did play Super Mario Odyssey on a friends switch and loved it I thought BOTW was boring when I got it on Wii U and didn't think getting a switch was worth it for that and I already had mario Kart 8 on Wii U. Then the Switches 2018 output was weak and since then I have found a more stable job and can't deticate much time to just one platform holders let alone to all of them so I mostly try to just game on Playstation nowadays which even thats hard to do with the limited time you have as an adult

How long have you been for SONY, Microsoft, Nintendo or just been PCMR? Have you ever switched sides?
If you keep switching sides you are just pragmatic and probably go according to what interests you or where you feel you get what you need in therms of gaming.

Like over the years I have had periods where I preferred Coleco, Nintendo, Sega, Sony, PCs, Xbox, etc. Going back and forth between console brands, PC, etc.

That being said, since around 2009 it's been mostly Sony with some PC on the side.
