Black Myth: Wukong just released a benchmark tool ahead of launch for PC on Steam.

Anyone got a PC setup close to a PS5 and would turn off Path tracing/set the game to 1080 or 1440p with a mix of medium and high visual options with FSR 2(?) turned on to give us a possible ballpark of what to expect for PS5?

With a 12700k and RTX 3080 at 4k very high settings, RT off, and DLSS set to 62 (Quality), I got 39 FPS average. But the game looks amazing

Turned shadows and post processing to medium and got 60fps average and the game still looks great.

Yeah seems heavy but in line with what is shown on the screen.
The only thing that remains to be seen in terms of performance is what happens during a big boss fight with a bunch of SFX or when fighting a group of smaller enemies and how bad the framepacing turns out to be at that point.

At the very least the game is seemingly very scaleable.

We've got Steam Decks running this:

F8146517C7B4C85FB30178AD3920A44E72E804CA

Granted that's with everything at low with frame gen on. The little thing is trying its best I say!

That’s really impressive for Steam Deck, I’m surprised it plays at all even on low. I think the PS5 should run it fine as long as its decently optimized

Did you try turning RT on? I got 8 fps on very high RT on my 6800XT lmao. Also, global illumination above low makes the water look like trash, whatever TAA they've got going on there looks like utter dogshit with all the ghosting and pixel breakup. Also, for once FSR doesn't look like hot garbage at 1440p, which is nice

These are the settings I'm gonna end up using probably bmwk_2.jpg

No I didn’t try it with RT yet, I’ll try it tomorrow. Lighting already looks great without it and ik it’ll be intense.

I haven’t tried cinematic yet either but I’ll try your settings.

One thing that gives me pause is that the benchmark is rather chill.
Performance in hectic combat encounters, particularly with multiple enemies or bigger sized bosses might just tank the framerate. A great benchmark actually has one or many passages where things get stressed.
I guess we'll see that big red negative Steam rating if players feel lied to once they get into the game proper at launch.

I feel we won't have more 2-3 enemies mostly on screen at any given moment like most of the souls games, and I guess there is no settlement/city (not sure?) in this game to tank frames, although I expect it to tank when monkey uses his clone skill and when he fights the heavenly army

Game started to leak

  • There's a Princess Iron NPC in the game (She's white-haired) she seems to be important.
  • Game has 15 Main Maps and One Boss or more for each.
  • The game goes through a condensed retelling of Journey to The West (There's a bunch of map names but i'm too lazy to trannscribe them)
  • Maps work like in Sekiro.
  • Biggest Map is Lion Camel Ridge/LionCamel City and it got four main bosses to fight
  • There's Multiple Hidden Bosses, they require key items to access.
  • There's More than 4 Hidden Small Maps (Dragon Palace, Tongtian River, Thorn Ridge)
  • Endings are based on NPC interactions through the campaign.
