Its gaming unit is operating under a challenging set of revenue and profit goals, according to people familiar with Xbox’s business, who declined to be named while discussing private financial matters.

As Xbox moves away from its sole focus on console gaming, it finds itself more at odds with a particular vocal segment of its customer base. Earlier this year, Xbox announced it would make versions of games previously exclusive to Xboxes available on Nintendo Switch or PlayStation. The move shouldn’t have mattered to Xbox’s own customers, whose enjoyment of Sea of Thieves theoretically has little to do with whether someone can also play it on another device. But many gamers seem to think buying a console is taking a side, not least those Xbox gamers who’ve stayed loyal despite its third-place position. One Xbox blogger referred to the move away from exclusivity as a “breach of trust and credibility.” To Jez Corden, a Microsoft blogger for Windows Central, it felt like a slap in the face. “Sony and Nintendo wouldn’t do that,” he wrote.

You notice how Bloomberg wrote multiple hit pieces on the PS5 Pro in the last week or so, don't write anything about 650 layoffs at Xbox and then write this article which is more of a puff piece about Microsoft and Sara Bond more than anything.

They are 100% in Microsofts pocket

Wait a minute - so Phil pitched spending billions on Activision as a Xbox saviour, after years of decimating sales with gamepass, and now the board expects results? I am shocked!

The Microsoft board and Nadella have almost certainly told Spencer he needs to stand on hits own two feet now and bring profitable returns.

Right now they're cutting their way to profitability, but it won't be enough.

That's why at some point we're going to see Master Chief on PlayStation 5, but Microsoft wants to wait until after GTA6 sells at least some XBS.

But I wouldn't be surprised to see MCC or Halo 1 remake on PS5 as soon as next holiday season.

The root of Xbox’s problems is that they can’t make good games, and if your competitors can, there is no amount of money they can burn on Xbox as a platform to make it successful. I believe there is a place for Xbox in the gaming market as a mediocre publisher like Ubisoft. Call Of Duty will be enough to keep the business going.

Xbox should move on and let the inevitable Steam console take its place.

Phil must be thinking of retirement at this point. Feels like the noose been tightening around his neck more and more.
