Call of Duty: Microsoft aims to have outside contractors for future Call of Duty games (like Halo: Infinite). Rumor.

Sony chance to kill Xbox for good & take down COD buy Take 2 & use Rockstar expert to make a SOCOM reboot

Honestly if MS uses contractors for COD what a disaster did they not learn from Halo? Also if you play COD or kept up a the community COD need more devs & more studio to assist, ig that’s where IA come up

Bro if tht smooth fps feel disappears because of outsourcing (even though I'm sure it'll be same engine used) it'll be biggest travesty.

This is in the layoffs thread i believe. Either way, a good portion of Halo Infinite was made by outside contractors
But these aren't layoffs so it's gd it's seperate. It's info on future of COD. I did also mention it in there.

If this is the plan then if anything the layoffs were too small. Maybe they really did just want King? But then why fight so hard and give up so much for the rest of it?

Maybe the post was deleted because someone told him the fact that ABK already has been using external contractors/outsourcing studios since forever, making him look dumb.

As an example here in Spain there was Elite 3D (now 2K Valencia) who did work in many CoD games, Crash Bandicoot 4 or Diablo series to name a few of them.

To have contractors / external outsourcing studios is super common for AAA gaming, also for AA or even some indies.

In the context of an acquisition is common to fire people due to redundant positions and also underperforming people (and pretty likely later replace a portion of them) to reduce costs.

This isn't the case at all, it would be retarded. CoD and Blizzard make a ton of money. ABK always had contractors and outsourcing, and will continue having them. They only fired a small percent of the company, pretty likely redundant positions and some underperforming people.

Microsoft is one stupid F-ing corporation that doesn’t learn from its mistakes! U build a strong creative culture with a dedicated team not contractors that won’t be around after 18months. When ND put factions on the back burner they let go of the contractors and kept their core team members. After that we saw a to of post on Twitter of ND devs saying it’s sucks the game was cancelled but a lot of what they learn and the new skills that gained they can implement on their next projects. Relying on contracts is what destroyed halo. Smh!

Overall, 40 or 50 of the 120 people who work on “Rocket League” are contractors, he estimates. It had $110 million in revenue in its first year alone. As outsourcing sweeps through almost every industry in the U.S., the videogame business looks a lot like the workplace of the future.Apr 10, 2017.

I think many ppl know that within dev companies you have your mainstay ppl that are the foundation of the company and under them many ppl contracted to do certain work. Thts common knowledge/practice in this industry but to wholly contract the work out on an established ip is not. Idk how this is looking but thts dumb asf for COD if thts what they are doing.

There are enough COD games already, like 20 of them and 10 of them probably still got servers online generating money, i'm sure nobody will miss it if 1 of them is not out this year at all

It would definitely have reduce visibility of the brand and that content will start to look stale especially since the last cod was such a disappointment. Cod is a staple ppl expect every yea. If one off year can be detrimental. Plenty of shooters still competing for gamers attention and the content renewal has to be consistent like clockwork.

Good. Maybe it will be better than the trash we got last year. Wouldn't take much. Oh, and release every 2-3 years instead, make a quality game, a great campaign and awesome multiplayer. Won't happen though.
