Sony: none, I think they're doing fine as they are. If anything I'd want them to buy Unknown Worlds and do Subnautica VR and Natural Selection 3.

Microsoft: none, I think they're fine as they are. If anything fire/move phil spencer and matt booty and try to hire someone with better project management chops, maybe see if you can lure Ted Price from Insomniac with $100mil or something. They already have enough studios and have trouble managing the ones they do have - what's adding more gonna do? Get your house in order first.

I feel like Remedy would be better with Xbox, but that's just me. Their action games seem to be more 3rd person hardcore action shooting tends to be more of an Xbox crowd thing. Also, wasn't Alan Wake like heavily marketed with the Xbox 360 in the past?

Alan Wake was an Xbox 360 exclusive at the time which released the same day as Red Dead Redemption which wasn't the smartest idea. As for Remedy, they do single player story driven third person games which is a perfect fit for Sony in my opinion. Microsoft wise, I believe the time for Remedy is long gone. Of course, with Remedy having one hell of a deal with Epic Games, I don't see them selling until that deal expires.

Lol Nintendo EPD 8 (the Mario team.) Though, if stripped of IP they might actually be better off picking up EPD 5, they've had more, bigger hits over the past decade.

None. We don't need more cinematic games, or now GAAS.

Well, the idea would be to diversify the lineup.... like adding a jrpg studio or a wrpg studio....hell, even a fighting game studio would be sweet.

That was my original motivation to make the thread.... to see what people wanted added to the lineup and who could provide it.

I get that Remedy is a 3rd person games and that's what Sony has a lot of. But the big difference between Sony third person titles versus Remedy is that Sony 3rd person games are alot more cinematic and more storytelling experiences.

Meanwhile, Remedy focuses more on the actual action and gameplay I feel like. And I am not saying this in a negative or positive way, but their games are a lot less cinematic if you ask all me compared to Sony's so I don't think they'd fit that well.

Sony needs someone who can do more Western RPGs. They're already doing GAAS with Bungie so that's 1 out of the way. They also need someone who does FPS games. Killzone is not doing much these days, and resistance is nowhere to be found. It be nice to have an FPS dedicated studio or something. But perhaps Bungie can handle that as well. I think Bungie was a genius purchase.

Dunno, both Control and Quantum Break felt similar to me. I have a vague memory of that game. I know there was a TV show or something for Quantum Break but that's about it. They never made anything Quantum Break related again. And even if it was more cinematic, it was just like 1 game, majority of their stuff isn't like that lol.

Ehh not as cinematic as GoW Ragnarok or TLOU 2. Those had hours of cut-scenes. Control was also a very short game, like 4 hours, but it was a very fun game I enjoyed with a cool protagonist.

CrossfireX was a pile of trash, it looked decent in trailer but it ended up being god awful. I think it was another studio that was working on it as well. I probably wouldn't count it as a Remedy game even though they were involved. Sucks for them to put their name on something that was t very good.

I agree that Sony needs someone who does Western RPG's but outside of CDPR, there's not really many out there that would fit in with Sony. I know people mentioned Larian but aren't their games isometric? If so, I don't see Sony doing that and they seem to have completely gone away from that. Sackboy is probably the closest to this camera perspective this generation.

Bungie was a good purchase but if they release their future games on anything more than PC/PS, then I really don't see the benefit being as big as it should be. I get that they can help with Sony's 10+ live service games and any games that are first person shooter based but if anything, this remains to be seen how it all works out.

Alan Wake had cutscenes, Control had cutscenes. Both are shorter than the games you mentioned (although not 4 hours... https://howlongtobeat.com/game/57507 ), but it doesn't mean they were less "cinematic", if your definition for it is having cut-scenes.

1. Remedy - Single player and graphically intensive focus, their games don't sell on xbox either way, so no one really loses anything.

2. Capcom - They ship nothing of value on Switch, and as a Switch first user, I won't miss them when they go.

Can't find recent numbers but I remember hearing Capcom's sales for new games are up to 80% on PS. So again, no one will really miss anything.



the most recent numbers i can find ^. The ratio is probably even higher now.

When you think about it, the first resident evil on Xbox was RE5, so xbox has no resident evil heritage or hardcore fans on xbox. and then Street Fighter, perfect fit for EVO as it headlines the darned SONY-owned event every year. Fighting games are also dead on xbox. Monster Hunter also lends them relevance in Japan, and it's an online live service game.

Resident Evil though certainly, Sony should lock down more so than they already have. It's one of the core old-school playstation ip along with FF and Silent hill. Not seeing the point of xbox (or PC) versions of RE moving forward.

and now since MS has bought The Evil Within off the market, they need to hit them back in return.

Capcom, because they are my favorite ones and would help them cover a lot of bases: fighting/eSports/GaaS with Street Fighter, horror with RE, hack & slash with DMC, monster hunting with MH, action RPG with Dragon's Dogma, platformers with Mega Man and Ghouls & Goblins and a long etc, plus would add an insane catalog of old classics and IPs for PS Plus Extra and their movies/tv shows/anime.

But since I have to choose a dev and not a whole publisher, I'd say From Software.

I think whatever it would be would be ruined by the GAAS approach. Sony wants fortnite money.
