I think it works (at times) for shooting but not for melee. Kratos lots a lot of mobility, crowd control options and bosses were a lot less spectacular due to this camera.

This (lengthy) video sums it up

I think the idea of having a side kick doesn't help, I really prefer how Black Myth Wukong plays.

The old Kratos is just a little too heavy to control.

The old games were just much more pure enjoyment and fun, the stories were more appealing in some way and I just prefer silent protagonist (or near silent protagonist) type games in most cases.

I mean, the first time you play something like Uncharted 2/3 or the first TLoU it's something else, but when most games become this talkative this becomes annoying.

yeah, i agree, they should stop copying Nintendo. that shit works just with Nintendrones.
Remake & remasters aren’t bad when if like Nintendo also drop many & many other games to offset them + Nintendo games are permanently exclusive so the remake/remaster makes more sense to drive people from previous gen or new into it.

What PS is doing is doing quick cash grabs solely for PC but as shown w the data PS PC port are nothing then selling 5% or less of what they are selling on PS console & showing a decline trend per release

This would be a bad announcement then, IMHO. At least as something to do as a major announcement at the VGAs. Something like a GOW Trilogy announcement could be better served as part of a SOP or Showcase, or a video announcement on their Youtube channel.

Beyond that if it's a console/PC multiplat release then they need to balance it out with another announcement that's focused exclusively on their console, particularly if "PC" here just means Steam. SIE have to get in the act of showing the console's still paramount in their ecosystem and that also includes balancing out new game announcements to where no matter what they bring to PC, the console's still either getting those games earlier, or a new game is releasing exclusively on the console around the same time (or not far behind it). I already went into that strategy extensively in this post, if you're interested.

Parts of that post may not work anymore and I'd also concede that in the case SIE do a PC launcher soon, they won't make 1P games exclusive to it that have already seen quite successful releases on other launchers like Steam. So the Horizons, God of Wars, Spidermans, Ghosts ofs, Destinys etc. (and if they acquire Kadokawa, Elden Rings) will still see releases on Steam either simultaneously to a PS launcher or within a couple years or so after the console versions (assuming the PS launcher gets those games Day 1). But the general idea I had in that post still stands, and I still feel it's a very viable multiplatform strategy for them if they want to actually engage in a multiplatform strategy.

However, considering the optics they already have with their strategy, having ported so many games (I'm focused on non-GAAS here) to Steam the past four years, those optics do hurt the console some. You don't need to do a business analysis to see that, because at this stage a lot of that impact would be more in general enthusiasm around long-term outlook for the console within communities online & offline, even if these groups only represent a small portion of the customer base. And any lowered enthusiasm could have a range of financial impact on revenue & profits; a much, MUCH more intensive example of this is with Xbox consoles this generation.

So why flirt with that possibility, when you don't have to?

At the end of the day most all of such remasters of old games are to drum up short-term revenue & profits, but there can still be a way of doing that with class and building towards longer-term value (financial & otherwise) for the IP and platform brand as a whole, without risking diminishing enthusiasm from a core subset of the audience.

If they want to do a GOW Trilogy collection for console & Steam, fine. But at least (finally) show SSM's new space game, or even in this case something as small as affording console owners a cheaper way to access those games & any QOL features vs. the Steam version would at least be showing priority and rewarding their most loyal customers within the ecosystem.

Demon's Souls doesn't need an announcement there unless it's to announce a PS PC launcher. Bringing that to Steam, when (if they acquire Kadokawa) they are very likely to keep Elden Ring there and Bandai-Namco already bring Dark Souls titles there, would be a mistake and further weaken the market potential of their own launcher if that's something they actually want to do (or in addition, can further weaken enthusiasm among a subset of core enthusiasts which could have a range of severity in negative impact unto some areas of software & services revenue, peripheral or hardware revenue, and future hardware adoption rates).

If Sony kept Demon's Souls exclusive to their own launcher, realistically there's nothing people could bitch about. That IP's been exclusive to PlayStation systems since 2009 and while a PC port would technically break that trend, being exclusive to their own launcher still keeps it ecosystem-exclusive. And if any From PC fans want to complain about that, maybe give them a briefing on business and how, yes, even Steam still VERY much relies on (defacto) exclusivity to retain & grow its market share in PC gaming (similar to the PS2 during its time).

So expecting other launchers to not leverage content exclusivity in some form to offer competition (not saying that's the only thing they'd need; high-quality features is also a necessity) is brainlet-tier.
Agree.

Once you loose the hardcore that’s when your console is no longer seen as the cool thing. Wonder why so many kids are going to PC/Mobile? Well the hardcore gamers & streamers who would be define as “hardcore” promote PC & Mobile through creating of content. Once you loose the hardcore that’s when you loose the casual just like Xbox. Even Nintendo who prominently create games for “kids” still leans heavy on hardcore as hardcore is what will promote & make both software & hardware seem like a cool thing to invest & spend time doing. Just look at Smash or Mario party.

I’m saying it here if PS doesn’t makes there pc port or if they stop doing pc port & only focus on PC & Mobile w multilayer GAAS games if either or both aren’t exclusive that PS PC launcher is dead. No gamer or 3rd party developer will publish games on a PS PC launcher if even PS doesn’t support it w exclusive to drive consumers. Just like consoles & how developers & partners are moving away from PS exclusive because why would you do PS exclusive if PS themselves aren’t even making there games exclusive to the console or even PS PC launcher. This just means due to PS action PS will completely loose key 3rd party partners for exclusivity or they will have to pay even more for exclusives. PS should’ve never open that box & found other methods to grow ip like cross media, parks, collabs, merchandise/toys just like Nintendo then diminish there own ecosystem, platform & storefront.

PS should be more like riot or even hoyoverse in the PC realm & really they shouldn’t even be doing pc port & actually improve there first party output to drive more profits. Hell I would take mtx cosmetics in my PS singleplayer games as long as there cosmetics how bout a Horizon x Killzone collab w Alloy having a Hellgast them armor? Or Demon Souls x Bloodborne collab where you can buy Bloodborne theme cosmetics for Demon Souls remake? Ratchet & Clank rift apart x Jak & Daxter? TLOU1&2 remake x Jak & Daxter Daxter theme Ellie bikini/cosplay suit & Jak theme Joel cosplay suit, you know like funny/cool collabs skins that can trend on the internet & bring new people or existing to cough up $10-$20 for easy high profit cosmetics. You can even charge $10-$20 with many people not caring & just buying it cause it’s cosmetics. During the PS3 gen we used to have these collab cosmetics for PS games now they don’t even fully capitalize on there games & ip they own.

Just look at the collab cosmetics w Neir x Stellar Blade & how much self promotion a simple cosmetic did for the game.

after Rognarok, people's pushback against Atreus and Valhalla's overwhelming positive reception, devs should be totally tone deaf to make a DLC with Atreus and Abrogona.
I wouldn’t mind a adult Atreus & they make his persona as savage as the old Kratos that would be pretty cool

To be fair, the reboot shot the series to a new sales level. A lot of those gamers never experienced the origins in the Greek saga. The originals never went above 5 million, while the series does 20+ nowadays. We won't get the next Mythos probably until PS6 so it makes sense to fill that gap with this. It has been twenty years so I wouldn't mind revisiting peak Kratos.

Question rather is will they do everything in a collection, separate like per platform (PS2,PS3, PSP), in volumes or chronologically in lore with Ascension & Chains of Olympus first or keep it only at the numerical titles.

Who would do this? Bluepoint did the original collection of 1 & 2 it would make sense they would do it justice but it seems they are working on their own stuff. And Nixess hasn't really worked with Santa Monica thus far.

So many questions and it could all just be Judge's new acting gigs or some sponsorship hmm.

*quotes to me twice*
Yes, this is what happens when mods do allow bullying, insults, attacks or not very appropiate language: other ones may also start to do it, specially the victims.

Wonder why so many kids are going to PC/Mobile?
In many cases their parents can't afford/don't want to buy them a console/dedicated gaming specific device, but they have at home a PC or smartphone/tablet capable of running the games (because the install base of smartphones and PCs is way bigger than the consoles one) that the friends of the kids and favorite streamers play: Fortnite/Roblox/Minecraft/etc.

And kids, specially in some countries/low income families, which are the majority, have a very limited budget to spend on buying games or DLCs, so they play more F2P. And well, aren't emotionally attached to having to buy games to play them because aren't used to this, so they accept more the F2P.

If something IS going to happen on December 3rd, we should hear about it by the end of the day Tuesday.

They usually announce a showcase at least a week in advance so people can make sure they attend.

They could also do a late event where it happens on the 5th or the 12th, but beyond that I wouldn't hold my breath.
Yes, even if the anniversary is the 3rd they could even make an annyversary event even the day before Christmas, or even in January.

I'd love to have a huge event with lots of things but I think it's more realistic to expect a just SoP with just a few interesting things and then fillers, or maybe even just a blog post with minor stuff and a couple trailers.

We know that in addition to PC ports, Nixxes has been working on remasters. And regarding remasters so far they only released the Horizon one. So maybe they're also working on this.

Regarding if putthing them on a collection or separatedly, I assume it will depend on the work they put on them. If it's basically just the same original games ported to PS5+PC with some minor tweaks like extra resolution and framerate, HDR/DualSense/PC features support and barely anything else then they would make more sense as collection.

If instead they are going beyond they went in Horizon Remaster and are entering the remake territory (something likely since I assume the woke inquisition will censor the nudity and sex minigames) and change all the models, textures, lighting, maybe even gameplay etc, then the amount of work/budget will be considerably higher, so I assume in that case they would relase them separatedly.

Project Management is just a joke to SIE.
Compared to the other big publishers, they historically have a very low percent of cancelled games or games that tank, and instead have one of the best percent of (specially in the last around half a dozen years) critically acclaimed or great seller games.

Apparently they also successfully grew many and integrated several new studios. And also did cut the fat when needed.

Pretty likely they have the best -or one of the best- project management in the business.

Yes. It's significantly more cost effective for many children to game on tablets, and mobile devices.

All parents have to do is install a free app, and that's easy entertainment for a few hours at least.

I hope they get properly remade, with the love and care Bluepoint did for SoTC and DS. if they do a Grovestreet/Nintendo on these I am going to riot same with censorship. I assume and hope they learnt from the recent outcomes. Will say Nixxes would have crazy work rate if this is also their project.

Edit: speaking of...

Hopefully it's the Greek Collection as I have zero intention to ever replay the reboot. It's a one and done kinda game. It definitely doesn't have replay value of the originals.

Give us that Ascensions remaster and throw in the underrated Multiplayer as well.
