Wonder what total sales are by now. Don't understand why neither Arrowhead or Sony aren't announcing numbers.

That policy started in 2010 and Xbox was publishing their numbers every month after that. The speculation from members back then was Sony being the one to ask that hardware stopped being disclosed outside of publisher PR.

Xbox were also giving out numbers for XB1 up to June 2014 while Sony just gave generic PR. It was for sure not Xbox that pushed for the crackdown on hardware PR.
Yeap… it is just a big “coincidence”.

The company that never stopped to give console sales is the one that asked NPD to stop.

While the company that doesn’t give console sales for over a decade is the one that allowed NPD to share it.

Am I interpreting that correctly in that launch month alone for Helldivers 2 places it at #7 for all-time (lifetime) revenue in the US for a Sony title?
The sentence is "Helldivers II launch month dollar sales represent the 7th highest total ever achieved by a Sony published title in the U.S. (excludes add-on content)".

Meaning, in the first tracked month (from February 8th to Feb. 29th), not counting the money it made wia add-ons like warbonds or customizable store, made more money than any other Sony game ever during their launch month, even if launched at $40.

Meaning, if other Sony game was released on May 15th of another year at $70, its launch month sales (not counting add-ons) would be from May 15th to May 31. And that amoun of money made would be compared to the Feb 8-Feb 29 sales of Helldivers 2.

Helldivers 2 got released at a cheaper price, but being released on PC they sold twice the amount of copies, so in total made more money than usual even if paying the Steam cut.

It also means that since it's being sold cheaper it had to sell way more copies than they average full priced Sony superseller games to achieve that point. Considering Sony has over half a dozen games that sold over 20M copies, means that Helldivers 2 is on track to sell way more than 20M copies during all its sales lifetime. Pretty likely has over 10M sold worldwide merging PS+PC.

I assume the fiscal year numbers will have good and bad news. So I assume part of the bad news will be to remember that this FY they cancelled some GaaS plus delayed a few of them, and shut down some studio. So they replaced the head of internal production for PS Studios they had since 2020 until late last year (Connie Booth).

Plus that they sold a shit ton of consoles, more than the previous fiscal year, but didn't achieve their too optimistic target. And also that since their component and shipping costs keep increasing they had to fire around 1000 people to cut the fat and control profitability. So to compensate the bad news, they may share several records they usually break, but to surprise they may also mention there that Helldivers 2 is a massive success for both their GaaS strategy and PC strategy.

They'll share numbers of 1st party revenue outside PS being having a huge growth vs the previous fiscal year and may say that they expect Concord to be the big GaaG hit release of the new fiscal year.

No, it’s the 7th highest launch MONTH, not lifetime

For all Sony published games in North America.

So basically 35 years of Sony Playstation.

Crazy considering this is revenue based and Helldivers was 35 dollars.

And people said Miles Morales sold bad lol

BTW I understand why it is #1 revenue even being $50 (so you need way more copies sold to win in revenue)… at launch people have few games to play so they buy want exists to play with the new console.

A lot of indies (inclusive on Switch) have good sales being at launch.

After the years pass you start to choose the blockbusters to play.
