Some shots.
I will post only the quote because Bluesky doesn't embed well here but everything is in the thread link posted in the OP.

EA Sports FC 25 was September’s best-selling video game in tracked spending, with double-digit percentage growth compared to EA Sports FC 24 during its Sep 2023 launch month. EA Sports FC 25 reached the highest US launch month dollar sales of any soccer game released to date.

Astro Bot ranked as the #2 best-selling game of the month, debuting as the 25th best-seller of 2024 year-to-date.

Xbox Series hardware spending dropped 54% year-on-year, with PS5 (-45%) and Switch (-23%) also showing sharp declines. YTD hardware spending is now 30% lower than a year ago, at $2.5 billion.

PlayStation 5 again led the month’s hardware market in unit and dollar sales, with Xbox Series ranking 2nd in dollars and Nintendo Switch #2 in units sold.

Xbox Series X consoles comprised 58% of total Xbox Series units sold in September, and account for the majority of Xbox Series units sold life-to-date (51%).

40% of total PlayStation 5 hardware unit sales in September came from Digital PS5 consoles. Digital consoles now comprise 18% of total life-to-date unit sales of PS5 hardware.

The PlayStation Portal was the best-selling accessory in dollar sales for both September and 2024 year-to-date. 3% of PlayStation 5 owners have purchased a PlayStation Portal to date.

"Circana, which tracks US game spending in dollars, reports that the Xbox Series X accounted for 58% of all total Xbox Series units sold in September, and 51% of all Xbox Series units sold life to date."

Looks like the X is taking over the S finally.

Not sure I would call 51% a "take over"

What's happening is Xbox sales are in massive decline and the people who want Xbox the most want an XSX at this point. The worse a deal GamePass becomes the worse a deal the XSS becomes.

That's brutal YOY drop off for PS5... No way to spin this.

Astro Bot did well. I'm surprised just how well Ghost of Tsushima continues to sell, that sequel will be huge and people will weep their smear campaign failed.

Helldivers 2 finally collapsed? Time to finally give it a proper sale Sony.

i saw someone at Reee in the xbox thread said: FF Pixel remaster ranked #20 on circana xbox sales chart for september.

Thats like horrible right?
The chart only goes to TOP10 but he is probably talking about that reply.

And yes it is poor.
Just look at Xbox TOP10.

Wait so the Series consoles are split 50/50 in the US alone? Surely the rest of the world is leaning more towards the S. I don't think the X is the leader out of the two worldwide

Just a bit of context here...

XB1 sales in 2017 where impacted by the eminent release of Xbox One X... it was not doing that bad in US.
That shows how bad the Series sales are this gen.

There is chance that the same is happening here with PS5... lower numbers due the eminent launch of PS5 Pro.
Without PS5 Pro it should probably be closer or ahead PS4 in this comparison like it was in the previous months.

That's brutal YOY drop off for PS5... No way to spin this.

Sony projected a 17.4 percent drop in sales of Ps5 for the year. When you consider the PS5 Pro, you're going to see a greater drop in sales for base PS5 units (especially right before the Pro releases).

Clearly the PS5 isn't down 45% for the year, but let's say it was, that would be a drop from 21.8 million units sold to 11.6 million units sold. If the PS5 Pro sells 2 million units between launch and the end of the fiscal year, that still puts you at 13.6 million units. That's 75 percent of forecasted sales, but like I said, the PS5 isn't down 45% for the year (on the other hand maybe you don't think PS5 pro sells 2 million units by April).

Astro Bot did well. I'm surprised just how well Ghost of Tsushima continues to sell, that sequel will be huge and people will weep their smear campaign failed.

That's because of the PC version. Look at God of War Ragnarok. People assume these games aren't selling because of CCUs despite people telling them that's a terrible way to look at sales.

Helldivers 2 finally collapsed? Time to finally give it a proper sale Sony.

lol... what a weird thing to say... It's literally the 2nd best selling game of the year, it got a sale in September. It's not a F2P game, it's not going to sell forever.

My take away from the X finally eclipsing S sales isnt that the X suddenly gained this surge in popularity, but probaly the bottom has fallen out for the Series S. In 2024 the S isnt nearly as good a deal as it seemed earlier in the generation and the constant negativity around it probably is starting to gain traction outside of hardcore forums now.

I suspect the Series S will get a boost again with parents getting them for their children at Christmas.

They need a reason for people to buy ps5 and they don't want to lower price and they decided short term robots are worth more than expanding the base, it seems.... It's fucked up

Helldivers sorta needs to retain its price if they’re not doing a f2p, expansion models or paid dlc to sustain bigger content drops. Fallout 76 and Sea of Thieves try to do this also.

Its player base has picked up a bit. Will be interesting to ever hear if players even really bother with buying mts.
