Great for Astrobot! September is a big month and it went to number 2.
Everything else is terrible
Everything else is terrible
Uhm?? My post literally said the YOY drop is brutal. I dunno why I'm being lectured about something I didn't state or imply regarding PS5 yearly sales. They'll miss whatever target they set anyways like they have been doing all generation.Sony projected a 17.4 percent drop in sales of Ps5 for the year. When you consider the PS5 Pro, you're going to see a greater drop in sales for base PS5 units (especially right before the Pro releases).
Clearly the PS5 isn't down 45% for the year, but let's say it was, that would be a drop from 21.8 million units sold to 11.6 million units sold. If the PS5 Pro sells 2 million units between launch and the end of the fiscal year, that still puts you at 13.6 million units. That's 75 percent of forecasted sales, but like I said, the PS5 isn't down 45% for the year (on the other hand maybe you don't think PS5 pro sells 2 million units by April).
Yes I am aware? Like I said I am surprised how well GoT continues to sell, normally PC ports leave the chart after a month or two. Ragnarok will drop like a rock so Ghost will be the anomaly for their PC ports. That's because of the PC version. Look at God of War Ragnarok. People assume these games aren't selling because of CCUs despite people telling them that's a terrible way to look at sales.
Do you go around this forum taking offense on behalf of Sony? LMAOlol... what a weird thing to say... It's literally the 2nd best selling game of the year, it got a sale in September. It's not a F2P game, it's not going to sell forever.
Unfortunately the current leadership doesn't quite understand just how PlayStation hardware became the dominant brand in gaming. Are there even any real gamers left there outside of Shu? Whom I expect to be gone within the next 2 - 3 years. They need a reason for people to buy ps5 and they don't want to lower price and they decided short term robots are worth more than expanding the base, it seems.... It's fucked up
A game going on sale doesn't hurt it's value. it has sold maybe around 14 - 15 million now. There won't be paid expansions. Putting the game on sale can only benefit it. Sea of Thieves is literally on sale almost every month, it played a role in sustaining the gameHelldivers sorta needs to retain its price if they’re not doing a f2p, expansion models or paid dlc to sustain bigger content drops. Fallout 76 and Sea of Thieves try to do this also.
Its player base has picked up a bit. Will be interesting to ever hear if players even really bother with buying mts.
Unit wise is ~40% drop... so the difference in drop is not that big between dollar and unit. The drops are revenue based, not hardware sales. There was a Spiderman 2 LE console last year and 2023 in general was a record year for PlayStation.
Spiderman 2 bundle is what helped them out last year September.Unit wise is ~40% drop... so the difference in drop is not that big between dollar and unit.
Just remember 2023 was the year of PS5 stocks rise.
The Series S having so many sells wasn't a choice made by consumers but a choice made by Microsoft. They loose more money on Series X so they pushed the S over the X until now. They were finally able to reduce the bom on the X switching to 6 nanometer chips.Wait so the Series consoles are split 50/50 in the US alone? Surely the rest of the world is leaning more towards the S. I don't think the X is the leader out of the two worldwide
They'll probably have to lower the target again this year. Last year from 25 millions to 21 millions. If they miss the target again with another 2 millions that's 6 millions less they were projectingThey'll miss whatever target they set anyways like they have been doing all generation.
So far the only good thing EA has done with their soccer game in years by parting ways with FIFA. The only thing that FIFA gives you is the official licensing branding for the World Cup. That's literally it. Players likenesses, teams, and leagues can be access without the invovlement of FIFA. And now Konami pissed away money by partnering with FIFA for their irrelevant soccer game and nothing will change with their game since they still won't have all the licenses to teams.EA FC doing absolutely fine without FIFA is hilarious to me
FIFA left holding their dicks thinking their name was what was carrying the brand
If it was 20-30% you'd have a point but 45% is extreme and abnormal, it's selling half as much as last year and that's not a good thing. Only saving grace is that there are no marquee AAA games to drive sales right now. Sony's cheapskate strategy is falling apart and we're now seeing the fruits of them not willing to put out any marketing for future first party titles.People need to keep in mind that this is compared to last year, which was a record breaker in PS' 30 year history. We'll see the actual numbers next year, when we compare it to this one.

Something something "PS4 more profitable than PS5" something something.
Not to shit up the thread, but when will posters who attack those with differing opinions admit that Sony are taking PlayStation in the wrong direction?
Bigger picture: the industry is having a slowdown. With Christmas around the corner, maybe people are waiting to spend. However, if those pent up sales don't translate to real sales, Christmas, black Friday and Thanksgiving could be a blood bath.
At this rate, GTA6 will be launching to smaller hype than GTA3.
