There’s also no really main mode. Not to mention no rank mode which is baffling. If you wanted to atleast attract streamers & people to the esports scene they completely through that opportunity out day 1. Maybe if it had rank & rank rewards someone would buy the game as a simple game to play because they enjoy rank.
A game like this does not need a ranked mode and especially with it maybe not be a huge commerical success, a ranked mode would be a ghosttown and matchmaking nightmare

Firewalk would’ve been better if they made a hero shooter where the hero themselves where more tacky & acknowledged the tropes of a super hero like my hero.

Significantly better hero design w the typical sexy girl heroes & the evil & good boy heroes. Amazing hero design with bad ass concepts

Gameplay wise I thought it was good, fidelity wise much better than competitors. Since it's first person; I am not bothered by the characters like others, it's a very polished game. I am going to get the physical for my FPS fix until Marathon probably.

But big missed chance Hermen. You could'v done a hero shooter with PS characters... Kratos as the tank guy, R&C as Roka, Sly stealth and acrobatic etc. would'v fared better with most. Even if it's awkward for some characters to have guns but selling a Cloud or Snake character similar to Smash Bross would've been ez money.

I played it yesterday. Seems like I feel the same way since the beta. It's a genuine snorefest. It's not fun nor addictive in any way whatsoever. Can't seem to choose a main character because none of them are charismatic or appealing at all. The most tragic thing is the fact that it doesn't have an Escort mode, which should have been there like in Overwatch and XDefiant. I mean, a hero shooter with the usual PvP modes like TDM, Kill Confirmed, Domination or Headquarters don't work right. It's a horrible mix that feels totally unbalanced for a lot of heroes. I couldn't play the last two modes because there are no people to play with, but I'm guessing I'm not missing much since the last two modes are pretty similar to the others -and one of them was in the beta.

Not too late for them to bring in PS+ characters down the road but not sure would be wise at this point given the commercial viability of the game currently

Yeah just ride it out as is, it's already too late to do that. Just in my eyes would'v been received way better but I understand they thought if we do the Marvel sntick they can have their own series etc.
For the commercial viability, point is you don't need to be a mega hit out the gate. Just build up a community and grow over time, F76 failed out of the gate and is still around. They can carve their own spot on the console especially in this space.

Curious here… what do you think about Destiny Crucible? Because that is the closer to Concord… not Overwatch or XDefiant.

IMO, Crucicle is better in pretty much all aspects: map design, movement, gunplay and match pacing. Concord excels at nothing really.

Yes this is what PS should’ve done. Essentially make a hero shooter 3rd person like Marvel Rivals but w gaming ip. Kratos, Ratchet, Bloodborne Hunter, Nathan Drake, Aloy, Potopon army, Wild Arms, Ape escape, Cloud, Snake, Mega Man, Leon, Dead Space guy etc then just sell skins for the characters, emote & guns skins. Or even a smaller scope/budget game like a Friends VS Friends type party game using PS & other 3rd party characters.

This & a PS Allstars 2 fighter with 3rd party characters.

Sony has the advantage because they can add some really funny characters like Walter White (imagine him throwing crack at kratos in either a shooter or a fighting game, like Walter white super is throwing “white powder” that shit would be funny asf) or will smith from Men in black or Sony anime side Demon Slayer or Fate or they can use there relationship in the anime space & add Naruto, One piece, Juju kaisen etc

Completely agree , it feels like they asked chat gpt what they should include in a 5v5 hero shooter and then made it.
Crazy they took 8 years. That game + that acquisition was not cheap considering there studio is located in dc Redmond same area as Bungie

The major distinction between concord & destiny which both play similarly atleast game feel is Destiny has exotics that can be changed at any moment with distinct perks/gameplay same with regular armor with armor perk that fundamentally change the game. Aswell Destiny gameplay overall is faster & quicker time to kill leading to a better experience. Tbh from what I played from the beta concord plays like a jumble mess it tries to do “new” stuff by being more of a arena shooter with heroes but it ultimately doesn’t play good because hero shooter thrives in gameplay that require teamwork to overcome a obj. Not to say concord gameplay can’t work but the slow movement & slow TTK doesn’t helps it excel.

Exactly, mixing heroes with arena shooter modes gameplay without a teamwork component just makes no sense. That's why I think not having an escort mode or similar was a huge miss and one of the reasons why the game will ultimately fail. The other modes are ok for a while, but not as the main course. Also, playing a tank in Concord is way too slow compared to Overwatch and there is only one hero in Concord that can speed other heroes (the one that leaves spores on the ground) but still you rely on the spores all the time, as long as the other team doens't destroy them (and they will).

We will agree do disagree Concord add more depth and strategy to gameplay plus it is more balanced than Crucible.

It requires more team play and allow more comebacks while Crucible allow more solo play wiping everybody.

Crucible has more guns to use but that come at the cost of balance… they never could reach fair play there because some guns are always better than others.

Both are extreme fun and addictive in they own way.

Destiny weapons sandbox is actually pretty solid right now but it’s no way in hell casual friendly. It’s more than just the speed of the game etc.

The depth to it absurd at this point with no real way present to matchmake experience/skill/build in a perfect way. I’m less annoyed with lobby balancing than last year so I guess that means something improved.

I don’t think any of that is concord’s goal. I think the Bungie influence is meant to end at the copy and paste gunplay and be different as much as it can. (Although a good chunk of the maps seem familiar in ways too.)

Well, in theory Concord should have has more depth and strategy, but everyone plays it like it's just team deathmatch more often than not. The fact that it doens't have a roll queue like Overwatch doens't help either. I wish I liked it 'cause I've played every shooter for the past 30 years, but Concord IMO is not fun nor adictive.
