Sony has less and less power with 3rd party it seems.

I dont know how they fix this without buying.
They arent Nintendo, and they dont have enough studios working fast enough making new ips or games. And its always a 50/50% if it works out with new ips.

Its not a doom post. But how can they improve this and stop it from happening? Or do they not stop it from happening.

I remember hearing Hermen getting the credit for getting a deal with Kojima again. Does he deserve the credit for not securing the IP’s…

Does he get credit for Andrew House’s deal with Death Stranding now going to Xbox and probably gamepass one day? If he’s just a puppet why have him, he must be involved in some way, making decisions. Sony lending out there game Engine out now lol

Kojima Productions also seem to own the Physint IP (which they are working on with SIE) and the OD IP (which they are working on with Microsoft).
Lmao so both multiplat physint likely day 1 on PC, Xbox & Nintendo while also using Sony funding & Decima engine.

This gonna push Guerilla Games to want the mainline Horizon game on Nintendo Switch & Xbox & I’m guessing Horizon 3 to be day n date on PC

Wonderful news! Now he has full creative freedom with his works and isn't beholden to anyone about him. It'll be interesting to see if his games take advantage of this and wind up even weirder or more creative.

And he's going to be making movies and anime soon too?! My body is ready

I see more & more 3rd party publisher rejecting exclusivity deal from Sony/PS. Which means PS will have less power against Nintendo who are the market leader by a long shot & is double downing on there own platform/hardware & double downing on there games output something PS hasn’t done with the past 4 which show clear signs of games especially AAA taking 5+ years while PS being to small of a scale to only release 1 PS studio singleplayer game (which is awful output compared to Nintendo & even Valve/Steam gets more exclusive by default then PS makes from first party)

That's not really a fair comparison. Valve doesn't make exclusivity deals and they themselves only put out a game once every several years. The only reason steam has a lot of "exclusives" is because it's easier for indie devs to launch games there. With more time and funding support those games could just as well release elsewhere

Nintendo can’t play the latest AAA games most studios are putting out. Final Fantasy 7Remake, Baldurs gate 3, WuKong, HellDivers, COD etc.
Nintendo normally gets the lower powered exclusives. Octopath, SMT5 etc etc. Otherwise we’d have Metaphor on Switch now.

We’ll have to wait till Switch 2 to see how they play 3rd party.
They might make something that can play modern games. Otherwise if they do something low powered again, I see them being the same as Switch. Lots of exclusives but not the latest AAA like Metaphor. Maybe they can play Elden Ring, but will they be able to play Elden Ring 2 etc

Only Sony's dumb enough to heavily invest in a new studio with their own tech for free, invest in a new IP and have it be one of your flagship titles that draws a lot of attention, only to then sell it off and have it release on other platforms.

If I was an investor, I'd start asking some hard questions and demanding a review of the management.

@thicc_girls_are_teh_best man, you're gonna love this genius move.

Madness.

Then again who makes this game if Kojima is not there.

The IP is useless without him.

Goldman Sachs will definitely be asking questions again at the next investor shareholders meeting about porting games to other platforms instead of bringing consumers to PS5.

Not usual in this industry…

From my head happened with Platinum (Nintendo), Bungie (Activision) and Quantic Dream (Sony)… of course there are more.

Som contract deals are made to company A (publisher) funding the costs of company B (developer) with company A holding the IP rights… but in these cases have clauses that says if the company B can buy back the IP after some estipules period or performance metrics.

That is for the safe of both parts.

If the game don’t return big $$$ when the publisher keep the IP as payment for the fund.
If the game return big $$$ the developer can get back the IP paying to publisher some part of the fund.

In that way no part be at lose.

And the game using Decima does t matter… neither of Sony is funding (helping either money) Death Stranding 2… after all fund 3rd-party IP happens a lot in the industry.

Sony gave the Heavy Rain IP to Quantic Dream.

They kept Beyond and Detroit.

Bungie was never owned by Activision and I don’t believe the Destiny IP was ever. Just a third party deal with ABK.

Correct me if I’m wrong.

Don't be fooled. This is all a ploy from Kojima to get acquired by Phil and MS. The first thing he did when he got the IP is make a Xbox version so the transition is easier.

DS2 will drop day 1 on all the platforms.

Well good riddance then.

Good luck with Kojima Productions.

I’m sure Microsoft have learnt their lesson after acquiring Rare.

They have also seen what has happened with Tango Gameworks.
