Oh yeah it wouldn't come with DLC, sorry I wasn't clear. What I meant is that it's possible they are already working on this, so whatever they release next could have it (or not). I still think they will release another GoW this gen. This game was supposed to come out in 2021 (and the delays were related to the main actor). This gen will likely end by 2027/28, so plenty of time for their expanded studio to release a couple of games.
They might. I think COVID slowed everything down a lot. Many company projects are probably playing catch up.

In the case of GoW, it was actually an accident that incapacitated the actor that plays Kratos, not related to Covid.

Also, this just came in

So it seems like they are indeed working on multiple things

I guess we'll see what they come up with! Hopefully it's another action-adventure with melee style combat. We have way too many guns right now.

More I play the game less impressive it become graphical wise.
It is the first time that happened with GoW.

It is a brilliant game that shines in the Combat (sorry for these that things it is the same combat because it si completely different) and Story Telling... but the presentation is really a middle between PS4 and PS5.

The more you play the more you start to see and notice how rooted on PS4 this game is... and that is really sad.

Santa Monica needs a overhaul in their graphic engine.

Great graphics but we can clearly see PS4 influence. Some traversing also made for PS4 hardware. Loading isn't great too. At least game is polished. Had just 1 glitch in 81,5h.

Art style is great.
I have the feeling they are not not even using 50% of PS5 hardware capabilities.
I'm just surprise because Santa Monica used to push the hardware to max... I still remember the WOW when I played GoW, GoW 2, GoW 3 and GoW (2018).

It is still my GOTY this year... it just it could be even better :D

They clarified when the previous game released on the PS4 that the transversal was not tied to engine loading though. And by that I don't mean realm travel, I mean the corridors, etc. That was a design choice.

I think he is talking about the portals... sometimes it takes over 10 seconds to show the portal to get out of that "intermediate" realm that was just created to make people runs in circle until the portal shows (when the next level is loaded).

That "intermediate" realm between portals should not exists on PS5.... I know they put some Mimir talk to make it feels better but these minor Mimir and Atreus talks could have been done in others places.

It was a resource used for PS4 that keep unchanged for PS5 :(

Yeah, I get that, but travelling between realms is something that takes a few seconds every now and then, it's not super annoying and game breaking. Since they usually add to the lore during that time with conversations, it's ok imo.

Design choice to put wood or chunk of stone in the middle of a free way? 😂😂😂 Makes no sense.

You have to ask the developers, because that's what they said. The game can handle open world sections with very decent detail, it makes no sense to have corridors in small levels to load more of the same. I believe them in that regard.

Realm travel yeah, clearly like that to hide loading.

Tell me exactly what you mean by "how rooted in PS4"? Name some graphics features of a pure PS5 game that implements better graphics features than GoW:R?

Almost all Sony first party games released to PS5 has better graphics than Ragnarok.

I can list some like Demon’s Souls, Racket Clank, Horizon: FW, Miles Morales, etc.

Cross-gen development was a big mistake… a lot of features and graphic implementation was missed due the old gen hardware.

It looks like a bit enhanced PS4 game 🤷‍♂️

But hey let’s disagree even with the developer that by DF said…

“One of the developers recently noted that this is a PlayStation 4 game at its heart designed to push that platform to its limits”

If you play Ragnarok you will understand… there is no way to not notice how rooted on PS4 it is.

My level of hype with Santa Monica was always a graphical showcase taking the platform to its limits… and Ragnarok is indeed that for PS4… it is a shame that they didn’t even try to changes things on PS5 and did a flat out port with the same engine and graphic features.

LOL! What exactly is better???

Here, let me help you with the list and you choose the ones that are better.

GI light probes :
Anisotropic texture filering:
Shadow map resolution:
Texture map resolution:
Normal map resolution:
BRDF materials (i.e. hair shader, skin shader)
Level of Detail:
Motion Blur:
FX (i.e. water, dust, etc..):
Geometric detail (i.e. tessellation):
Ambient Occlusion:
Volume Light Shafts:
Reflection cube maps or SSR:

Btw, HFW and Miles are both PS4 games.

That is my point the dev at least tried to push something on PS5.
Santa Monica not.

The art style is good but the graphics are dated… PS4 level of quality (I did not play the game on Pro but from what I saw on PS4 the Pro is probably very close to what you have on PS5).

That lead me to think Ragnarok on PS5 is like a next-gen upgrade patch… a bad one to be fair.

DF summarizes it better “It's not a generational leap over the prior game, mind you, but a natural evolution of what was previously achieved.”

GoW Ragnarok choose to push PS4 to limits and not cross a generation leap on PS5.

And my instance of how hardware is being subutilized this generation due the push for games running in lower spec hardware… something that always existed on PC now is happening on consoles even in the exclusives games :(

It is just sad what the industry is moving… and it will become worst with Sony push for multiplatform (PS + PC) development… they are at the point to transform their engines in what PC engines are… most focused in brute force optimizations than optimizations to extract the max for your specific hardware.

That is why guys like @Bryank75 doesn’t like the Sony PC strategy and they have all reasons to.

All that's really important to me is that they fixed the texture inside the red chests, that is next gen right there!

And both look way better
Way better how? No one is answering my specific question. Is the presentation, animation, environments? If so, that's all artistic direction not a technical advantage.
