Because they either use simple shader or a small number of shaders lol
Simple shaders are very light to CPU while complex shaders are not… and there are games with 2-8k shaders and others with 200k.

So there are games that compile shaders in few minutes, others will take over a hour…
There you go again with this "simple shaders" BS... You have no idea what you're talking about ffs :ROFLMAO:

And no... no game is going to take over one hour to compile shaders on any modern CPU. They're not compiling every permutation that can possibly exist upfront..... they log which PSOs/shaders are used for which materials... and they compile the ones that are used by the game...

Please... list some games that use complex shaders according to you Ethomaz... I'm dying to hear about which games you list.

Maybe that helps you do understand the issue.

A game with 99500 shaders take 2 minutes in a Ryzen server CPU with 64 hardware cores… in low-end CPUs it can take 20 minutes or more.

But they explain the issue and even says the only way to workaround with these times is to decrease the number of shaders and for that they need to recreate all their materials to shares shaders between them instead to use unique shaders…. yea that last option is basically limiting the artists that create these materials.

Overmatch a small MP game (MP games are smaller in terms of shaders than SP games in most cases) uses around 40k shaders (eg. Overwatch) and take over 30 minutes in a Pentium with 4 core CPU to compile all of them.

Typical shaders will take 5-20ms to be compiled in a mid-range CPU but complex shaders can take 100ms and even reach 500ms.

You can think pre-compile shaders to be good but you forget the on demand compiling shaders that generate shutters was chosen because PC gamers complained about long times compiling shaders at install of the game… so developers started to avoid that.

You can give option to gamers choose what he want that is probably the best workaround right now but it is not a fix for the issue.

PS. If you read the original shaders made for PS4 in OpenGL took them the whole night to be compiled.... aka several hours... but you know consoles can have precompiled shaders shipped with the game so you don’t need to optimize/remove the data/information in the shaders.

I think that you're the one who needs to practice reading comprehension.

You take a specific case ans assume all games are the same and have the same level of complexity.

It's funny that many of the PC ports DachsJaeger uses to show good PC ports are PS ports. Spiderman, Days Gone, Uncharted, GOW.......Sony leading by example on all platforms confirmed....
Tô be fair we have basically no PC exclusive game except for some indies anymore… and if it was not for Sony first party reaching PC the situation of PC releases should be worst.

PC has regressed so much, but I blame the PCMR mindset and Nvidia, like anybody would create a game for a 4090, 3090ti or even a 3070, when only a few gamers own these cards. Especially at these exorbitant prices......Most of the owners of the first two cards are content creators and productivity guys.......Piracy also did lots of damage to PC from a dev's perspective.
Every year is a disaster for PC gaming. :p

jk
Who shall save PC? A ground up PCMR game built by IconEra's finest...

Where it’s at.
The biggest fix for PC gaming would be for all the PCMR shitheads to finally get it through their heads that, BY DEFINITION, a general-purpose machine can ALWAYS be outperformed by a purpose-built machine.
