Interesting. Was that the white one? I can't remember, but I did have a white one and it was on my desk at times. Don't remember it being a problem personally. Must have been some variation?
Trust me the original model pro was fucking terrible cleaned it out 3 times & it was still loud as fuck I gave it my cousin when I got my ps5

Dude it’s a handheld that plays Steam games, not really a difficult piece of hardware to grasp conceptually.
But it’s much more than just a handheld that plays Steam games. The emulation, the dual booting with windows, and the tinkering and modding that you can do in a handheld form factor are the things that make it special.

Where it’s at.
To me the ps4 pro was a downgrade, a few more frames for way too much noise. Even with noise cancelling headphones you could hear the fan. The x1x is an Xbox so it’s more power for nothing, most 3rd parties didn’t even utilize it and the 1st party games that did utilize it sucked.

The new Steam deck has a much better display and MUCH better battery life. With zero downsides and still the SAME price. That alone makes it the best refresh ever.
The OLED screen on the OLED Deck is only that big of an improvement because the stock LCD on the Deck is ridiculously terrible. Watch Taki Udon’s video on YouTube where he compares the display on the OLED and LCD decks with the Deck HD replacement screen, the Ally, Aya Neo Air, ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go.

All Steam did was go from an egregiously awful display for color accuracy to a good one.

I didn’t know and never heard about the original Deck having a bad display. This is the first i’m hearing of it, but it makes the case for “best refresh ever” even stronger

The color accuracy on the Deck LCD is really lousy, like 20+% below the nearest competitor and 30% worse than the Deck HD screen replacement. I was honestly shocked when I saw it side-by-side with the Ally and Legion Go
