Do you plan on buying a PS5 Pro and/or a Switch 2 in 2025?

Had NES, SNES, N64, GC, Wii, Wii U, Switch, VB, GB, GBC, GBA, SP, DS and all sorts of forgettable weird remixes of the handhelds, a Zelda GC, a Pika 64, V64Jr, GB X-Changer, R4 and other extracurricular stuff, a GBA devkit, various fun SNES and GB gang flashers and other weird dev stuffs, etc. etc. I've still got quite a few of those, too. But don't think I'll ever want another Nintendo anything again after this one, I'm done.

Switch saw less use here than even the Series S and there's a stack of games still in shrink wrap. It's sat there on ancient firmware I suppose I could do all kinds of "fun" things with, but... just cannot be bothered when every aspect of it from weak arse power to laughable docked improvements to risking scuffing the face of the handheld when docking did nothing but piss me off. It was the least Nintendo-like piece of hardware ever. they used to feel premium and robust, the Switch is just a flimsy, weak toy.

One thing I'll never let go of is my collection of weird and wonderful pirate famicom carts but maybe not so much the knock-off consoles. Was so into that shit back in the day had a website dedicated to unearthing each and every last plastic monstrosity...over 2 decades ago now... fuuuuu...

PS Portal and ROG Ally.
I wanted to have Portable Factions/online from PS end on Portal, but can use it for other games still.

Rog Ally is just windows based for PC mods. Though I'd perfer content creation pipeline/better developed games than mods, it's a service issue.

I think with TLOU1 PS5/PC missing its Factions MP, if I wanted portable Factions MP without remote play lag, I'd be looking for a Windows-based PS4 emulator to run TLOU PS4 on the Ally.

The fact that there's no TLOU Online coming now (Thanks, Bungie) is still baffling to me. That Factions hasn't been divorced from TLOU1 package and highlighted as its own GAAS game is even more so. It's got consumable perks and purchasable dlc. It's had, what, an 11 year active playerbase across 3 consoles (if you play TLOU1 PS4's MP on a PS5 I guess) after not getting any updates since like 2014 or so. It's earned its fucking stripes. Not that Sony/ND seem to care.

In the same way I had base PS4 and skipped PS4 Pro, I have base PS5 and will skip PS5 Pro and will jump directly to PS6 to notice a bigger difference.

I'll get Switch 2 some day, but not at launch.

This year I'll get -due to job/gamedev test and debug reasons more than to play there- a Steamdeck and a Raspberry Pi 5 + case with fan + RGB Pi cable.

Yes, out out of all the Gaas games, TLOU Factions 2 and Spiderverse made the most sense. TLOU Factions and a Star Wars KOTOR 3 are my most wanted MP/Online games.

I'll either buy a pro or quit PlayStation, it all depends if Sony is going to give me enough reasons to commit to their ecosystem.

Sony did a very poor job patching their own games when the PS4 Pro came out and convincing third parties to patch their games for PS5. It sucks that a game like RDR2 is stuck to low res and 30fps.

PS5 hardware is already great and PS5 Pro will probably give you an even bigger performance per dollar spent on it. All the issues are on the software side of things.

No idea about what the Switch 2 is going to be or what games it's going to have.

same I think w PS porting there games to PC it’s pretty easy to skip PS5 pro & even PS6. What’s the future looks like for PS exclusive is it a 12 month wait? Lego Horizon is day n date & the same remakes PS would make to drive consumers to its platform by making remakes exclusive just look at Silent Hill remake & previous remakes in the PS3 gen.

Migrating to PC or even Steamdeck isn’t hard I’d say the value consoles used to have especially PS isn’t there now more when Steamdeck is $400-$500 has both Xbox & PS games has PS multiplayer & remakes day 1 at a cheaper price day 1 & no online + other benefits. You would think with PS competing w PC & Steam & loosing players PS would bolster its storefront & hardware w parity w PC thing such as early access whihh ch many 3rd party do on Steam are essentially free value to Valve/Steam that they don’t even pay for & diminishes the PS storefront are things PS can mandate for 3rd party developers that publish multiplat day n date also early access for dlc on Steam from multiplat studios who’s game is also on PS just lacks dlc release the same time it releases on PC but nope instead PS is handing out the only thing & the glue that holds its hardware & storefront up together to Valve/Steam for free. PS should make early access on PS much easier for indies/single person studio games like rust, lethal company get release exclusive on steam by default cause developers either favor Valve/Steam or has no barrier to publish.

Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t looking bad w more 3rd party support day 1 & them double downing on exclusive games Nintendo Switch is looking to be the best platform & ecosystem to invest long term out of Xbox & PS.

When Sony didn't ask 120€ vs $80 for a peripheral you need to buy if you get a PS5 Pro and want to play any of your disc games.
