This isn't really a betting thread, I just want to see if people will be right or wrong on this.
So August 25th, 2022 is the 25 year anniversary of Goldeneye 007 on N64 and we have been hearing about rumors about it getting rereleased since the beginning of this year.
Now the bet is that either Goldeneye 007 will get rereleased on the 25th or announced on the 25th of this month.
Now that microsoft not only owns RARE and soon activision, it only seems they need to work with Nintendo (Who I believe still owns rights over the games code? or at least that's what I've been hearing) and EON who owns the James Bond License.
It seems microsoft was able to release halo's multiplayer on its 20th anniversary last year so maybe they can work together with the other companies to make this happen to make it happen.
Pros as to why it can happen:
* Achievements leaked earlier this year
* Industry insiders have been hearing about this for a while now
* The old XBLA version is nearly done and probably needs little effort to be finished (Kinda like Star Fox 2 and a more updated build got released on the SNES classic)
* The marketing will do itself thanks to nostalgia
* Easy Money and Nintendo and Microsoft have been working together more since more since 2018
* It helps Microsoft's 2022 line up and if Nintendo gets the original version, Switches Online's N64 support might stronger than Wii and Wii U's
Reasons why it might not happen:
* Some of those same insiders are saying they've heard trouble when it comes to releasing this game
* The ongoing war might make these companies not want to release this game right now kinda like advance wars
* If it was coming on August 25th we haven't seen any new updates or leaks lately (To be fair it still could be announced on the 25th)
* Microsoft doesn't own Activision yet
* It missed releasing with No Time to Die last year for a sales boost
* How often do companies try to release games on specifically on their anniversary, besides halo's multiplayer last year, it rarely happens. (remember when Super Mario maker released on September 11th, 2015 instead of the 13th) but an announcement could still happen
Bonus question, Will Metroid Prime Remake/Remaster still release for it's 20th anniversary this year?
Not necessarily November 17th, 2022 but maybe a December release like Captain Toad and Xenoblade Chronicles X in 2014 and 2015?
I remember Hyrule warriors was announced on September 8th, 2020 and released on November 20th, 2022 and Super Mario 3D All-Stars got announced on September 3rd, 2020 and released on September 18th, 2020
