Do you think Goldeneye 007 (N64) will get a remaster on August 25th, 2022 (or at least an announcement?)

This isn't really a betting thread, I just want to see if people will be right or wrong on this.

So August 25th, 2022 is the 25 year anniversary of Goldeneye 007 on N64 and we have been hearing about rumors about it getting rereleased since the beginning of this year.

Now the bet is that either Goldeneye 007 will get rereleased on the 25th or announced on the 25th of this month.

Now that microsoft not only owns RARE and soon activision, it only seems they need to work with Nintendo (Who I believe still owns rights over the games code? or at least that's what I've been hearing) and EON who owns the James Bond License.

It seems microsoft was able to release halo's multiplayer on its 20th anniversary last year so maybe they can work together with the other companies to make this happen to make it happen.

Pros as to why it can happen:
* Achievements leaked earlier this year
* Industry insiders have been hearing about this for a while now
* The old XBLA version is nearly done and probably needs little effort to be finished (Kinda like Star Fox 2 and a more updated build got released on the SNES classic)
* The marketing will do itself thanks to nostalgia
* Easy Money and Nintendo and Microsoft have been working together more since more since 2018
* It helps Microsoft's 2022 line up and if Nintendo gets the original version, Switches Online's N64 support might stronger than Wii and Wii U's

Reasons why it might not happen:
* Some of those same insiders are saying they've heard trouble when it comes to releasing this game
* The ongoing war might make these companies not want to release this game right now kinda like advance wars
* If it was coming on August 25th we haven't seen any new updates or leaks lately (To be fair it still could be announced on the 25th)
* Microsoft doesn't own Activision yet
* It missed releasing with No Time to Die last year for a sales boost
* How often do companies try to release games on specifically on their anniversary, besides halo's multiplayer last year, it rarely happens. (remember when Super Mario maker released on September 11th, 2015 instead of the 13th) but an announcement could still happen

Bonus question, Will Metroid Prime Remake/Remaster still release for it's 20th anniversary this year?
Not necessarily November 17th, 2022 but maybe a December release like Captain Toad and Xenoblade Chronicles X in 2014 and 2015?
I remember Hyrule warriors was announced on September 8th, 2020 and released on November 20th, 2022 and Super Mario 3D All-Stars got announced on September 3rd, 2020 and released on September 18th, 2020

I already played through the whole remake that got released last year i believe. Anyone's who plays this after me is getting SCRAPS. (Am I doing it right?!?! People's who do this are pathetic af)

All jokes aside, this would be the absolute perfect time to release this. Especially with online play. Hopefully everyone could come to terms with licensing b.s, and both Microsoft and Nintendo prosper. Release it for both, fuck it.

I imagine this could be a thing where it skips PS4/PS5 due to Nintendo and Microsoft being the only gaming companies evolved with this decision unless EON makes sure it comes to all platforms but as long as it comes to Xbox One I can still play it but if it turns out to be a series s/x and switch exclusive then PC will be the only way I can play it.

I don't.
And really not that hyped.

Most of my found memories with Goldeneye 007 on N64 was because the controller was a champ.
Unless you have a controller like N64 then it won't be the same amazing experience.

Playing with one hand was just that great.

There is no Godeneye 007 experience without N64 controller.

What do you mean?
In this thread I was asking people if they think Goldeneye 007 (The HD XBLA version that had its achievements leaked earlier this year) would have a stealth release on the 25th anniversary of the game which is today like how Halo infinite had its multiplayer release on the 20th anniversary of the series last year.

Only two people asked no they don't think it will happen and it look like they were right

Can't it be announced later today?

I don't think we'll ever get anything official regarding goldeneye. Great game, but too many companies involved to ever do anything with it. Love to be proven wrong though.

if it wasn't for the achievements showing up I think in march of this year or all these insiders talking about how they've been hearing about it happening I would of not made this thread. I just thought maybe celebrating a big anniversary with a surprise release could happen again!

Honestly insiders aren't what they used to be, this gen has been particularly disapointing in that regard.

People excited about this are excited about their memories of how it felt to play back in the day.

They won't be excited to see how it's held up after 25 years of the FPS genre evolving.

You can't ever recapture the "old days." Move on and let it be.

Hey! We're talking about Golden Eye, not Live And Let Die!

But I've played the unreleased remake earlier on, and it's nostalgic, but definitely outdated. But definitely still fun to go back and play. Doubt it would ever have more consecutive players than COD or anything, but would be nice to have nonetheless.
