First the GAAS shit

Now they could potentially losing out some important partners.

Meanwhile Sony just sit their idly and do nothing. Do you think SIE right now are competent enough, or we need to bring people like Andrew House, Kaz Hirai back?

One thing i will give Phil, Sarah, Aaron and the green clown posse is, that they know what the fans are saying on the ground level.

They see how Xbox fans are treated like second class citizens, port beggars, and annoyances in the gaming community, and have tried their best to rectify that.

Yes they are still 3rd place losers, but altleast they're trying.

Sony has nobody on the ground level. No one left like Gio Corsi, who would do his best to meet fan demands.

Its time for Sony to give fans something to be "proud' of. It's harder for Sony because since xbox is such a piece of rotten garbage and has no exclusives, there's really nothing left to "take' from them. But it is time to lock away multiplatform games from xbox, like MS is trying to do with acquisitions.

These are thank yous to the fans who have stuck with the brand. Games like Resident Evil, Tekken, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy, Yakuza, Perosna etc. They should never ever be on Xbox, not under any circumstance.

It's Sony's job to go out and make sure these deals happen, and they haven't done enough lately. Not out of spite, but out of courtesy to those of us who bought a PS5.

Xbox should be treated with the utmost contempt moving forward. No 3rd party games, especially from Japan.

These guys also had a panic attack from the conference acting like it was rhe "end of Sony" even though thr Spiderman Trailer got like 20 million views on YouTube

Yep. They see pictures of Phil Spencer holding hands with SE officials and it’s the end of Sony.

Do us and yourself a favour and just get an Xbox.

Save us wasting time on these threads.

If you care about PlayStation (and Nintendo TBH) NEVER, EVER, under any circumstance buy an Xbox.

You're funding a hostile, monopolistic enemy. I don't care what they buy. Nothing is exclusive, everything is on PC anyway.

Never ever support Xbox under any circumstance. Evil scumbag brand.

they arent doing great but incompetent is too strong a word.
Positives:
-Able to stop gamepass momentum in its tracks mostly and turn the tables with PS+ rebranding, they did an excellent job at counterpunching
-Did what they could to slow down the ABK acquisition.
-Made some good acquisitions including Housemarque and Bluepoint, as well as Bungie. Other acquisitions are promising but jury's still out.
-Responded proactively to MS moves by securing 3rd party deals, although quality was somewhat lacking - overall MS 3rd party games weren't as strong as Sony's
-PSVR2
-Managed to produce and ship several GotY-caliber console games through the pandemic with minimal losses to quality control
Negatives:
-Disagreeable outlook on future investment splits regarding GAAS games vs single player games
-Very weak and inconsistent corporate messaging; several unforced errors by Jim regarding PR ($10 upgrades, cross-gen, etc) and an inability to correct the record in a timely manner
-Lack of communication with the fanbase regarding future first party game content
-Perceived lack of investment in featurre development for the ps5; no browser or folders or themes, lack of things like custom plates
-Qlite
-PCport initiative is out of touch with what the PC gaming ecosystem is like

If not incompetent, at least too silent, they could share a bit more about their plans for the future and new partnerships
To what end though? Bear in mind, being purely reactionary is seen as a sign of weakness. Feeling the need to announce something because Phil makes a vague statement about potentially partnering on future games would reek of desperation.

Nah I don't think they are incompetent maybe a bit complacent.

There are areas they need to really start improving on. Bigger acquisitons is the obvious one and another area is a more diverse selection of games e.g. RPGs, which bigger acquisitons will help with.

I keep hearing folks go on about Sonys lack of presence on social media is hurting it.

Well the 2 successfull console brands Nintendo and Sony both have that lack of presence, whilst Microsoft doesn't.

But whose been winning the battle that actually matters? Also when Sony and nintendo do actually drop news on social media it blows up naturally, whilst ms need an army of shills to blowup whatever news they release.

40 Million ps5 sales
Breaking records
Games selling millions

They are doing great desipte what doomers on this forum seem to think

They got a brand that was growing. They managed to acquire a few small studios whose job so far has been to release fuck all. They also managed to come up with the worst idea ever for a portable device. From a games perspective, this year:

1 DLC
1 First Party SP game

That's it. That's their amazing work. 1 DLC and 1 full game. For a company that has so many games being worked on, they sure fucked up. They stuck Naughty Dog on a live service game, are having guerrilla do the same, and eventually SSM will follow suit.

Jimmy grabbed a well oiled machine and within 4 years managed to fuck the oil pipeline. 2 or 3 more years and you'll be eating live service games and more.PC ports while their competition, incompetent or not, will start releasing games.

But I guess selling many consoles beats actually releasing the product people want.

I think people really don't understand how badly COVID affected development pipelines. Games that came out at the height of the pandemic and shortly after were almost done.

For utter mismanagement, see Xbox's 2022 output:
Nothing

Without their purchase of Zenimax, they wouldn't have anything this year, either.

Jim Ryan has been with PlayStation since the ps1 days, stop acting like hisba new hire. His a businessman and his doing a good job.

A lot better than Phil spencer who has the backing of a 2 trillion dollar company.

Thank you…. you could literally make a new born puppy the CEO and the ps5 would still sell 40m+ units. That has nothing to do with Jim or Hermen.

Not sure why people on this forum love to give them credit they DON’T DESERVE. And act as if they’re beyond reproach. All of the great games and PSVR2 we got were thanks to the work of prior administration. PS5 is selling well because of what the PS4 stood for, no other reason. How you guys can diss Xbox while applauding Jim is beyond me…he’s literally trying to turn PlayStation into a blue version of Xbox

That pitiful excuse of a “Showcase” we got was the fruits of Jim and Hermens labor. Nothing but CGI trailers of live service junk that’s day and date on PC. We heard PC mentioned more than PlayStation during that event. As well as a garbage cloud handheld that no one asked for….It was the first PS showcase in 18 months and we learned even less about PlayStations future then before the showcase started.

Meanwhile, Xbox is doing worse than they’ve ever done but somehow we’re still managed to get MLB The Show, Persona, Yakuza, Kingdom Hearts, and more RIGHT when Jim took over….It’s not a coincidence. He truly has no idea what he’s doing.

Xbox has been doing “play anywhere” since 2016, focusing on PC, cloud, and mobile and where has it gotten them? They’ve only become worse and more irrelevant since then. Nintendo is doing better than they ever have in the companies history by having an aggressive and concentrated focus solely on the CONSOLE.

Which blueprint does PlayStation decide to follow? They abandon the winning formula that’s brought them and Nintendo success, to copy the awful last place team by chasing a PC mobile and cloud fantasy that doesn’t exist 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Like @Dodkrake said, they inherited a well oiled machine and somehow found a way to muck it up. PlayStation went from a behemoth of a console, to a live service timed exclusive box where you pay more for a worse experience than people who refuse to invest in the platform. The least they could do is drop PS Plus requirement on their live service games since PC won’t require it…. 20+ year prestigious legacy of “Only on PlayStation” was flushed down the toilet for pennies. There’s no way you guys don’t think that causes irreversible damage to the brand.

If you’re a primarily console gamer that thinks Jim and Hermen are doing fine then you seriously need to re evaluate what’s been going on these last 4 years…oh yeah and SHUTTING DOWN JAPAN STUDIO IS UNFORGIVABLE!!!!!!!
