Depends on the lens you view it through.
Is it a decent Day 1 CCU count considering where Bioware is currently especially after Anthem/Andromeda and the rather poor marketing beginning for the game? Possibly, although TBD for the true peak during the weekend.
Is it a good CCU count for an expensive RPG in a franchise that sold rather well for its time back in the 2010s? Not really.
Yeah just seen even Starfield hit 330k. Baldur's gate peaked at 875k.

Also this game seems to have been in development for ages.

It's lower than an Atlus JRPG 🤡

Dragons Dogma 2 CCU should be the minimum it should do (228k). It's fucking BioWare.

That means nothing nowadays. Capcom also has cultivated the PC space for years while EA...
Well you know how it is, their games weren't even on Steam till 2020 and their PC ports have been garbage(sports games/Dead Space Remake/Jedi games).

Veilguard, even if it was a perfect little game, was never going to reach that number.

Why don't you compare it to Baldur's Gate 3 instead of this weird nonsense comparison? BioWare is a way bigger name than Larian and they made the previous BGs. They are at the top of the RPG world, backed by the biggest western publisher in the industry.

Below 100k is a low launch, even Metaphor had 85k and it sold only 400k since release.

BG3 was a lighting in a bottle that doesn't happen often, like Elden Ring.

Expecting every sequel to a somewhat popular franchise to sell 10 million the first week happens 1-4 times a year.

Elden Ring and BG3 were were cultural phenomenons.

BioWare has had a downfall since the release of ME3 and noone should expect Veilguard to do BG3 numbers.

Prior to this version of the game that shipped there were two different other projects that were supposed to be Dragon Age 4.
Although, on that subject, a game's budget is always counted in terms of what actually shipped.
All previous work that was scrapped has already been counted as a loss a long time ago.

So 99% of the people who follow this game on Steam are now playing it. Don't know if this is an indication or not. Since it's Thursday evening 10pm here, but I don't expect expentional growth seeing these numbers.

I guess the peak will be this weekend or next weekend, but I dont see positive word of mouth carrying this game.

Follower count is always much lower than wishlist count on Steam.

If you're particularly bored there's a couple links that go into detail when it comes to Steam launches and a bunch of ratios that go along with it:

Raw numbers aren't always everything as well, here's some analysis talking about "Velocity" of wishlists/follower count(aka is your wishlist/follower count increasing by a lot the closer the game is coming to launch which equals hype):

On Steam, especially for premium priced releases that launch on Thursday/Friday, 99% of them peak on the upcoming Sunday UNLESS WoM is super toxic then it might peak earlier.
Of course there's outliers that peak on second weekend, but that's BG3/Elden Ring levels type games.

This is actually cool information. Thanks!

this thread complaining about DEI and saying "its still not a win" also being bitter about the game doing well because it has things that you personally don't agree with but is reality is exactly what is wrong with gaming today.

Why are we expecting BioWare (a company that the internet has slandered relentlessly for well over 7 years) to have amazing numbers? It’s probably gonna have a decent launch.

Discourse around this title really makes me want to try it. It’s either very good or insultingly bad… curious on why it ended up that way. Thing is Inquisition has to be one of the most boring RPGs I’ve ever played. I would never have finished it if the early PS4 era wasn’t so dry

You're right, Concord is a better comparison 🤡

Concord was also an exception but it's now the new barometer for success on PC. "Better than Concord" "Wow! Bigger than Concord" PC is so amazing 🤡

I know it's useless to argue with steamlickers so I'll let you continue comparing every game to Concord 🤡🤡🤡

You use the clown emojii so much I guess that's all you see when you look in the mirror.

60K is good?

Many Sony games had similar CCU’s and they sold peanuts on PC.

Yes, it's good.

That's not what's up with gaming today.
