They definitely need portable that shares the same library. Nothing else will compete. A mainline monster hunter will do great, but it will do even better as a portable, simple
Something like a Steamdeck for PS wont be so bad. Probably harder than I think but I can hope. If they prepare for it for the future. All 1st party games have a uncapped fps mode/30fps mode + the machine has a 720-900p screen.And they need a hybrid?So upend your entire platform and development process just to do slightly better in ONE region?

Making it much easier for portable versions of there games.
3rd party games that are on PC are already probably use to downscaing so much.
Id rather resources be spent on that, than porting to PC lol

Well they need a hybrid everywhere but especially in Japan for sure. Something that allows PS4 / PS5 fully offlline gameplay. They have to be prototyping it and the portal was probably the first step towards testing that water.
They are sitting on a goldmine in general with the back catalog they have while being able to offer a hybrid experience considering how far along their online infrastructure is compared to Nintendo and how great PS+ is.
Fully offline or being able to stream on the fly... Win - win.
