I can't wait for the day seeing Haven shut down and Bungie being sold off. Jimbo and Hulst's influence are crumbling before our very eyes. 😏
Bungie won't be sold off. Who will want to buy them? But I can see Sony fully take over the studio and put them working on Destiny 3. If that's fails than they will be closed

Tencent would buy them. Microsoft too. They would let them work on Halo.

I've got no hat in the ring but the first two years of PS5 under Ryan had games, a cracking headset and sold so many units they couldn't keep up.

Then hulst came along, cancelled every live service and GaaS game, even factions, because he said they wouldn't sell, while championing concord.
More games have gone day one pc under hulst and Sony are giving their franchise's to switch.

I'm not saying Ryan was House, Yoshia or Katoragi, but Hulst is Sony Phil Spencer; incompetent and full of lies.
Killzone is a better franchise than Horizon.
Here's me calling out hulst two weeks ago.
I'm glad to see more people are coming round to how he is the Phil Spencer of playstation.

In the Sony side (I have no idea about the other two):

Arc Entertainment, Contrail, Sugar & Rockets and Deep Space were Japanese studios not owned by Sony.

They made 2nd party games published by the Japanese SCEI team, later known as SCEJ (Sony Computer Entertainment Japan), later known Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Studio, later known Japan Studio and today known as XDEV's Japanese team / XDEV Japan.

In the year 2000 these teams got acquired and merged/dilluted into the internal Japanese development team of SCEI, what today is Team Asobi (previously Japan Studio and previously SCEJ etc).

Psygnosis Studio Camden was rebranded to SCEE Studio Camden in the year 2000, when they did stop using the Psygnosis brand. That team later got merged a couple years later with Team SOHO and later into London Studio.

Psygnosis had different smaller satellite offices, one of them in Stroud, UK. In the year 2000, as part of the restructuring that integrated Psygnosis into SCEE as Liverpool Studio, their Stroud office and Bristol offices were merged, moving the Stroud workers to Bristol (and yes, the Stroud office got shut down).

Japan Studio wasn't shut down, it got split and rebranded into Team Asobi and XDEV Japan.

Its honestly hilarious that Hulst went from the high point of fist bumping kojima and revealing PHYSINT at the start of the year to this shitshow lol, the guy has been kept afloat this year by Team Asobi and the third party deals team of Christian Svensson. How did they promote this guy...............

I bet Hulst is on the way out. Shareholders can;t be happy with his performance. let's get someone who knows what they;re doing.

Expect the same for Haven, unless the game gets cancelled and they close even before releasing anything.

Just an absolute failure at the management & leadership level. From not being able to see the market problems the game would've faced earlier in development, to the inability to sell the game's unique game features & mechanics vs. contemporaries, to the rollout, to the shutdown, and now the studio closure. Something is flawed in SIE leadership from the upper management position to have let things get this far with a game like Concord. It could also be meddling from Sony Corp, mainly Totoki, pushing a direction that is just not working for SIE here.

They better make sure Fairgame$ is an unquestioned success, same with Marathon, else this GAAS push needs to be completely shut down. Unfortunately people thinking it'll get us back to what feels like should be common-sense decisions from SIE, won't happen. They will just push Day 1 for all of their games to Steam to compensate for losses, increase prices for PS+ yet again, cut back on 3P co-developed exclusives & timed exclusives (not like many 3P want to do them anymore seems like. See: Pearl Abyss, Square-Enix), and do even more questionable remasters. Heck, they might also increase porting efforts to Nintendo and Xbox.

Basically, I think the mindset at SIE to do a PS3-style revitalization just aren't there anymore, so it's probably fruitless to imagine that being the case. Which is very sad for me personally, but it is what it is. That SIE doesn't exist anymore; this new SIE is basically the somewhat better cousin of Xbox.

...and Neon Koi didn't get a chance to reveal their game before getting shut down!!

@thicc_girls_are_teh_best

LMAO, not only was there a failure to see the market issues the game would face, Hermen praised it. Remember when Sony was on top of this shit and only partnered with studios that always delivered? Now it;s flop after flop. Marathon will probably do well, but Fairgames is also DOA, unless it gets cancelled. Haven is done.

Completely agree, PS3 style revitalization will take at least a gen and I dont think modern Sony and SIE has the gumption or the talent to pull it off. It will take planning longer than the nearest quarterly reports to hit the highs of PS2 or even PS4 gen. I still cant believe they abandoned Japan like that, I mean who does that. These people have no backup plans or fall back options at all if the next ND and SSM game bombs.

The interest free covid money clearly drove these people crazy and they blew money like there is no tomorrow instead of starting slow and planning strategically for their live service push. They could have started with a couple of games and based on the feedback and response made adjustments and greenlighted another couple of games after.

I've not liked the guy since day one. He looks like a smarmy German porn star who's speciality is eating shit from the chest of a big bussomed woman.

He forged on with horizon while ignoring Killzone, stubbournly refuses to bring it back or remaster it (easy win and easy money), or even release it on PC. Easy money. That man who can't run GG is now running playstation?

What a dick

I can agree with this. It's crazy how all us gamers could see doing 12 Live Service games would only end in disaster but they couldn't. This was the wrong gen to go all in on Live service, they had the right plot end of PS3 gen and instead they canceled and killed all their Multiplayer studios instead of giving them one last chance on PS4... Which was the gen to go all in on Live service.

Yeah a Socom Reboot announcement like GoW 2018 would have been so hype in 2016, They would have all the goodwill of single player games and people would have had a huge positive reception. There is a place for GaaS but it seems they greenlighted every service game pitched no questions asked, where is the first party quality control
