Take this with a grain of salt as I found this on reddit but here is some market and profit info...

I have access to leading industry research through my business school. This is IBISWorld's current report on video game industry market share and profitability by entity.

MS making so much money and still crapped out 3 broken and boring games in 2023.
With all those acquisitions and COD alone the revenue is going to be high. Idk how tht profit is high though. Idk something about this info seems suspect. It's only U.S. BTW.

PC hardware pays for windows, even gaming PCs. This is why they have more market share then sony despite xbox not selling.

Microsoft isn't spending $300M+ on every game that they're developing. They have AA budgets and Indie level budgets. Also, I see it's separated but Microsoft will start adding in all the ABK revenue and profit. Wouldn't be shocked or surprised to see Microsoft surpass Tencent for the #1 spot for 2023.

Something's not right with that research because MS is still 3rd place even after the ABK acquisition. That's gaming revenue. Tencent i still first, followed by Sony. Their purchase only managed to put them ahead of Nintendo.

Isn't Tencent going to lose a lot of revenue due to laws changing or some shit?

This might be right, it's including Activision Blizzard and this article mentioned Microsoft would be number 2 this year when it's included...

H1 2023 was stellar for Sony, with its game revenues growing +8.7% year on year to reach $8.0 billion. An increased supply of PlayStation 5s and the resulting complementary software purchases contributed to this growth. Differences in foreign exchange rates also had a positive effect on Sony’s revenues, as the yen is not performing well right now.

Microsoft’s now-completed Activision Blizzard acquisition will mark huge changes in the top 10

In H1 2023, Microsoft generated revenues of $6.0 billion, +3.5% more than in H1 2022. Microsoft, unlike Sony, didn’t manage to sell more consoles in H1. That meant less revenue from software sales that normally complement new machines. Xbox’s service strategy offset this, with Xbox Game Pass contributing to Microsoft’s gaming growth.

If we combine Microsoft and Activision Blizzard’s revenues for H1, the total is $10.4 billion. This would make Microsoft the #2 games company by revenues, docking Sony down to #3 for the first time. Tencent still sits comfortably at the top.

Tencent loses over $43 billion in market value after China proposes new online gaming rules.

But tht is being reversed and changed.
