>80M console + PC games sold during H1 2024 in EU (-1.6% YoY).
>2.2M consoles sold (excluding some countries like UK and Germany) durng H1 2024 (down 24% YoY).

Normal to have a decline since last year there was the recovery from shortages, several top superseller releases during H1 (like Howgarts or Zelda) and was the PS5 peak year.

Ps5 seems to be holding

Nintendo is falling off (end of gen)

Xbox is somehow falling off even harder than Nintendo despite having a console almost 4 years newer.

I’m curious to Switch 2 sales, the above seems to be the trend since stock issues were solved

At this point Microsoft should completely pull out of the HW market. Their next console is going to do worse than the Series, especially now when it's "play anywhere" and whoever got a Series console can still play their GP games without having to buy the new one.

Probably the % drops are similar to Circana.
Mat uses the claim that everybody is down 30-40% but in fact PS5 is in the 10-20% range while Switch and Xbox are in the 40% down range.

This way to mate the claims is less misleading than what Mat do on Circana.

BTW 10-20% down to PS5 this year is expected when last year it was record due being one of the first months to have normalized supply in EU.

People need to understand that all the doom posting about PS5 on socials has no foundation in reality. There hasn’t been a price drop yet (and even a price hike) and its still on track with the PS4 more or less.

PS5 is holding well considering that last year was a record year for the brand and the system only got more expensive over time.

Switch drop is to be expected at this point.

Xbox drop is just bad but the brand has never done well in Europe outside of the UK.

Exactly. usually they point to lack of exclusives (which is false), but I think reality is telling us that Sony is reaching a point of dominance where they can sell off brand power alone.

Sales dont matter. Streaming is the future and MS has sony beat by being on a firestick. Sony ponys always lose. Xbox Best. 12 Teraflop > 9.

I wonder how many TF the Firestick has. It’s amusing and sad to see Xbots stooping so low as to pander to a streaming stick.

They could have price promotions, especially since there are no blockbuster games ATM.

They really should keep sales flowing. Still decent.

Pretty good software numbers considering this part:

The first half of 2023 saw major releases including Hogwarts Legacy, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Diablo IV and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

In fact, in terms of software sales, things might be up considering they don't track Palworld and are sure to not track the numerous indies that are not partnered with them for data access. The H1 this year saw quite a few indie titles sell a decent amount of copies when you compare it to last year.

They could have price promotions, especially since there are no blockbuster games ATM.

These consoles must be quite expensive to produce since both PS5 and Xbox have been extremely light on price promotions and no official price cuts. As a matter of fact, if you're outside the US, you most likely saw a price increase...

They had a real shot with the 360 lol I still can’t get over how badly they fucked up
We thought they'd figured it all out with the success of the 360, but in the end they didn't, as they destroyed everything with the One and continue to do so with the series.
After Don Mattrick we can say Phil Spencer has done a lot of damage to the brand in 10 years.

I honestly didn’t know Sony was this monstrous in EU
Yeah since the PS1, Europe market has almost always been Sony's favorite hunting ground.

Sony's projections probably tell them that GTA is gonna supercharge ps5 sales, so they'll probably hold prices at least until that launch.
