I could see it in the short to medium term for sure.
But over time it's possible the Steam version pulls out ahead in unit sales just because of emerging regions with weaker currency picking up the game through discounts over a longer period of time.
Worth noting Rebirths sales are 4 percent higher than 16's were when 16 had 8 days of tracking and 7R had one. Assuming they are only counting February.

That would be such a worthless comparison to make, like profoundly so, and not in line with how Chris and/or other do things.
In fact, if we look at what he said:
Despite a strong critical reception, the second part in the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy didn't match the performance of the first game, with opening week sales down 23% over its predecessor (including sales of the double pack). Of course, Remake arrived on a different platform with a bigger install base (PS4) and also launched during the early weeks of COVID-19 lockdowns, when games were in higher demand.
Compared with last year's Final Fantasy XVI release, which came out in June, launch sales of this new Final Fantasy are up just under 4%.
All these comparisons are always launch aligned for X amount of time
It's possible its position in the monthly list is only with a 1 day tracking(I don't recall how Gbiz does thing here) but Chris would already have data past that mark for his comparison.
Of course, they will, but Steam users love to buy those deep deep discounts down the line and then complain about how many games in their backlog they haven't even started yet due to buying so many of them for cheap on impulse.
Anyhow, this is all meaningless speculation considering this is years down the line, so many factors can influence the long term sales of any game that we cannot possibly predict at this point in time.

It would be really nice to have a concrete figure to help with the guesstimating... Anytime SIE...
We're really going to have to wait till the next earnings call aren't we?
So in your scenario that would mean
#1 Palworld
#2-3 HD2/CoD (Hugely dependant on the quality/reception of this year's CoD)
What about #4-5?
Those are harder considering there's still a bunch of games that have not been officially revealed or have no release date.
Assassin's Creed Red/Star Wars Outlaws are probable candidates so is a couple of other games.

It's crazy how the narrative is that the game is a massive flop but it's actually selling better than Yakuza and Persona COMBINED. You can also add Xenoblade and it's still selling better. The xbots and the rejects from Installbase really poisoned the conversation online (like they did with FF16). Jealous fucks
What happened to @Infinity and all the shilling about Palword? Xbox is down 47%. Palworld did nothing at all. All the celebrations going to waste

For what its worth John Harker (Some Pseudo Insider) from Resetera said this:
"I mentioned more than once to expect softer than expected Rebirth sales. Sony a bit perplexed themselves why there wasn't more pre-launch traffic around it, especially given the stellar reviews. Just such an unpredictable market right now, especially with shifting demographics of Paid/premium games, record retention in multiplayer games, how PC/Steam is doing remarkable work in catapulting unexpected titles to eat up mindshare "of the moment," big investments into established IP but their struggle to attract younger gamers, post-Covid benchmarking being way harder than pre, which hurts games being budgeted during COVID (I.e Over spending on games launching now) etc etc
Helldivers took even them by surprise, it's just been eating up mindshare at the costs of other games"

Simply it CAN'T have more days of tracking if game was officially released during the last day in Feb. That's not possible at all. Maybe 2 days because those who preordered it, they've received a copy day early. And i'm sure GSD doesn't track sales of some retailer who broke the embargo of released date.

They do, and they better not screw it up. They need to put a freeze on the non-GAAS PC ports because almost all of their current-gen offering is on PC now or coming soon in the case of HFW and GOT.
Ideally, GT7, GOW Ragnarok and Spiderman 2 need to be the last such ports for the rest of this generation. They need 1P that are actual exclusives to leverage continued draw towards the console growth with new customers and current customers. More 3P exclusives would help too, but 1P really need to deliver that value proposition first and foremost.
If there's any time to start establishing an actual 'virtuous cycle' prioritizing the console and leading to new things for the console, this would be the time to do that. And I've already talked about this in great length with that big SIE/Sony thread, so not gonna repost it here xD.

Well, lack of updates about the sales & revenue performance from Sony or Square-Enix contributed to letting the miscreants run along with their negative bias campaign and FUD. And we all know a huge motivating factor for that stuff is because these mainline FF games aren't Day 1 on Xbox.
Phil's dumb crying over Helldivers 2 not being on Xbox recharged all of these bogus "It's unfair!" arguments about Xbox supposedly not getting support from Japanese devs or how it not having all games is "anti-consumer" even though no console is owed all games simply because the console exists.
"Sony has had some misfires but overall their ps business is very strong. And it will only get stronger as MS effectively forfeits and Nintendo misses their new console launch in 2024. They will essentially have no competition for the rest of the year.
Sony's CEO's retarded comments is what fucked them. They had a great holiday season and shipped 22 million fucking units in a year. Third most all time in their history. For whatever reason, the fucker threw his PS team under the bus. maybe because he wanted to be more profitable than they already were, but sony's revenues and profits are higher than they have ever been. The bungie deal is the only reason why their profits were halved but if you take out that $3.6 billion invest, they are still up there with their best years during covid."

j/k'ing just in case someone takes that too seriously
