It would be a big L if there was no 60 fps option for GTA so yeah I expect it to be 30 fps

Wonder what their takes on the Series S are, if a "miracle" is required for 60fps on a PS5 Pro....

If rockstar want to push it, it should run at 720p 30 on the series S. Dynamic 1440P 30 on PS5 and series X with an unlocked FPS mode for future proofing and ps5 pro.

Looking at that trailer and seeing all of those npc’s on the beach. It looks very CPU intense. Also, wasn’t GTA V very cpu limited?
Wow, npc, cpu intense.

Days Gone had 500 infected on screen on JAGUAR bottom tier cpu. On the same Cpu, there are loads of games with cities filled with npc.

Stop it, it is 120fps machine, i was told.
Pushing PS5 hard to crying, that they had to release slightly better PS5 Pro that Series S would get off their backs.
Playstation shaking in their boots.

I mean it has to really because of gta online having it run at a better frame rate on certain consoles would give them an unfair advantage unless they split the player base

If the game is 30fps on PS5 and the reason is being CPU limited then…

Yeap… it will be 30fps on PS5 Pro.

CPU is the same and any game in 30fps stressing the CPU won’t magically go 60fps on PS5 Pro.

But that is the catch… the games needs to be very CPU bound even in 30fps on PS5.

Digital Foundry knows fuck all about performance expectations on a game and engine they don't know.

Current open world games are struggling to go over 30FPS on consoles because Unreal Engine has a problem with shader compilation and most games aren't making proper use of the fixed function I/O acceleration blocks in the consoles.

The PC doesn't have these I/O blocks and DirectStorage is still strangely absent from most AAA games, which is why DF thinks devs need a 5GHz Zen4 to run some games at 60FPS.

The thing is, most devs aren't Rockstar North, who depend on one ultra-successful franchise releasing one title per decade.
Rockstar North can't afford to not optimize the next GTA to its last bit, and they're 100% going to optimize that title to the I/O Complex and Velocity Engine. They're going to make sure that the render portion is the bottleneck in that game, and the rest is properly optimized to run in 7x Zen2 cores at >3.2GHz.

When you look at a game like Dragons Dogma…what makes it cpu bound? The world simulation is nothing beyond what we’ve saw during the ps3 era. Shit is simply coded by monkeys without ability to properly optimise code.

Though consoles in general relay on weaker CPUs since last generation, it's currently not needed that much as 90% of games relay on GPU.
Next gen will most likely relay on fast x3d type CPUs.

It's RE Engine and it runs best looking games with high resolution and framerate. It's way better than that shitty UE5.
it is probably not designed for open levels though. Hence, the Dragon Dogma issues.

Not sure… I didn’t play it or researched what the game does.
