Helldivers 2 does not appear to be losing momentum anytime soon. Having ruled over the Steam best-sellers list for a month, this game was recently dethroned. However, in less than a week, the co-op shooter is back, returning as the best-selling Steam game.

Why it matters: This type of success is unprecedented for most games. The game seems to have found itself in a similar situation as Baldur’s Gate 3 from 2023, which showed a similar dominance over the Steam best-sellers charts.

Helldivers 2 is back on Steam’s top-seller spot.

The game was replaced by none other than Dragon’s Dogma 2. However, with Capcom’s RPG slowing down after a somewhat troubled launch, Arrowhead Game Studios’ live-service offering has seized the opportunity.

Yet again, the game is ahead of free-to-play titles. According to reports, it dominated the charts in February as the highest-grossing release. It even recorded a mammoth number of over 8 million units sold in less than two months.

I’m expecting 2 million launch window (six months). But… this might just be the right time for the game so if it breaks 5 million in a year that would be major. Especially for a smaller game. I would compare it to Remnant 2’s run as far as recent hardcore online releases vs casual trash like Suicide Squad or Redfall.

Destiny fills this spot yearly for the online crowd with its expansions. Helldivers pretty much has late winter to itself now.

This is huge opportunity for helldivers. Many destiny and online shooter fans will indeed try this out and stick with it waiting for the next expansion… which ironically was the same situation for the 1st game’s debut and there is some sort of crossover player appeal.

5 mill would definitely be major. I doubt it needs to even cross 3 mil to be a success and profitable.

Palworld isn't free but counterstrike is but it's because

the top selling is taking into account the revenue, not sold copies. That's why Steam Deck and free 2 play games are at the top.

When using Steam instead of Steamdb, it may hide you certain games, like those with tags you told Steam not to show you (I hide stuff like VR, MMORPG etc).

Steamdb is the same as the global official steam list, they use the API.

If folks are confused, this is how it goes.

There's: https://store.steampowered.com/charts/topselling/global
This is the official which lets see Global and then you can even look at the top 29 markets on Steam
There's:https://store.steampowered.com/search/?os=win&filter=topsellers
This is the one where you see your local store, because it is only "Top Sellers"

You can see this easily because if you add global in front of "topsellers" in your URL
