How come this Shinobi dude that works a Lucid knows so much about the industry? Even very private stuff he should not have access at all as a low-ranking dev in a random studio.
He was an insider before working for a game studio, so he still has those connections. But he’s a lot more vague now than he used to be, he’s still never wrong though

Insider where? Why would people tell him stuff if he's not even a journalist or anyone important 🤔

Because if you have a project you believe in why would you sell before it's a success
Because it depends on contractual agreements and what the other company is offering and how enticing it is. It's a success without a doubt already and that success brings the vultures around.

And acquisition is a two way street. There's no evidence that Arrowhead were interested in selling before. Maybe they will now that their fortunes have changed. But they've gone from a tiny valuation to a very good one

Thats all known but you asked why would they, there are alot of reasons why not to and why to sell. I don't agree or disagree with the selling. I mean we've seen this before with Insomniac and ppl said the same thing, why would they sell look thy now make ganes on Xbox too. You just never know also many ppl never thought Bungie would be bought by Sony.

Ahhhhh my bad, apologies on the misinterpretation. I read "before a success" not before "release" so I interpreted wrong. Either way mostly for same reasons. The answer for me might be a diff response had the question been "why would Sony buy them before the game was even a success".

I agree. Even if they were 20 X cheaper two months ago, it's still better for both parties if they agree now to a price

I am reminded of Bungie selling themselves before Halo came out and regretting it

Sony's organic acquisition strategy is the only one proven to work. They invest in a studio, build them up and then buy them when they are a proven success story

There were points in time that companies like Quantic Dream, That Game Company, Supermassive Games, Ninja Theory, Ready at Dawn and Deviation Games would have seemed logical purchases too. Better to buy when you've built something great together and there is a clear future that can be built by acquiring

Because they do outsourcing and form industry connections. Kinda weird to call them low ranking or a random studio but okay.

Over 5 million in a month is crazy. It's definitely gonna pass 10 - 12 million this year if Arrowhead can produce quality content drop. Resounding success.

Hopefully it sends a message to Sony dynamic pricing is a good thing. There's no reason why a game like Ronin is $70

You can’t tell why Ronin is $70? Helldivers isnt actually heavy on content. It’s much smaller and arcade like.

Ronin could easily be a $60 game .. just like games like Ratchet or Returnal had no reason being $70. And that's not a knock on quality but the price limits their reach and selling power.

Nothing about Ronin screams a $70 game and I'm sure the budget is not that huge
