I don't use windows or, when I did, sign in to a windows account.
I wouldn't/won't buy a quest because it wants a Facebook log in, which I don't have, because Facebook makes money from me, none of which I see. Unfortunately, not all data can be avoided been given away, but I avoid It where I can.

nickle-and-diming doesn't mean profiting off of your data, it means actually making you pay money. you need to use the right words to describe something because words have meanings. regarding the money that sony is "making" off of you creating a free PSN account, it's literally nothing. It's some bullshit metric to cram into their quarterly earnings reports to make investors happy, and has nothing to do with shaking the customer down for more money.

What online games don’t require your email or an account? Serious question. I can’t think of any. It’s been streamlined to be just a click of a button and carrying over your username on consoles but it’s everywhere, from ea to square.
Even on consoles where you have a xbl or psn account… to play any ea Ubisoft game you have to make accounts. I’ve had to deal with the problems this can cause too when ea decided to retire my account for no good reason locking me out until I went thru customer service hoops.
Bungie has their own accounts and since they’re publishing under their brand I don’t expect marathon to require psn. But they have their own.
When you game across platforms a unified account is somewhat better for online gaming anyway. Easier migration.

Meh at this point Sony should not back down, you never negotiate with terrorists. This is not a free to play game and they have already finessed 40$ of these steam suckers so let them make a hue and cry. I hope this results in Sony shutting down on PC releases going forward
