Dragon Quest XI on 3DS barely outsold the PS4 version, despite DQIX being exclusive. They ported the game from 3DS to Switch but they didn't enhance the game for PS5. They could have made a definitive version for easy money on PS5 with just an upgrade path.
They put the definitive edition on ps4 already

It's not difficult to port at all...
It would, at the very least, need to have the second screen content moved into its own menu accessible via a button press, have its resolution increased, and have lots of text and UI assets remade or replaced to be able to look okay on a single HD screen. It would also need its battle menu moved to a single screen as well, and it'd have to have some UI elements adjusted for 16:9 and fix anything that breaks from making the game 16:9. These are not trivial changes, and even then, it may be deemed unacceptable by Square due to the models and textures being low poly and crunchy due to compression (i somehow doubt ps5 gamers would be happy with something similar to how FF III 3D and IV 3D looked)

None of that is difficult. Especially for a game that popular. They are almost certainly precluded from porting it due to contractual obligations with Nintendo.

Square Enix will be lucky if they sell 100K which is horrible. Even if it was day n date your looking at 500K maybe.

The problem w Final Fantasy is that the franchise is irrelevant to the younger audience, Square Enix has FF14 as a multiplayer live service but that caters to a much older & specific audience in PC. Square needs to make a new multiplayer FF that gets younger people into the franchise if I was Square Enix I would make a genshin impact open world action or honkai star rail turn base gacha mobile games that releases on mobile, PS & Nintendo (& if PS has a PSPC launcher maybe releasing it there so it isn’t pirated/maybe get a check from Sony still for exclusivity) the mobile game will be design specifically for mobile & to bring in that mobile facts community into the FF franchise.

Also partnering w Lego & making Lego FF sets & partnering w Sony, WB/HBO MAX to create live action tv shows & anime in the FF universe since there’s great stories, characters & world building in the FF franchise

Will sell maybe 500k, if at all.

FF on PC is not worth it, for them.
Should’ve probably release on PS5 & PS4 or take an exclusive deal w Sony & Epic a double exclusive deal w maybe exclusive content/cosmetic in the PS version. Or create new FF w smaller budget but still charming & fun w a bigger focus on gameplay/story then hyper realistic graphics

100k (just a guess) in a week on PC = huge success.
100k should be a flop too.
But near 500k in a week… sucess.

BTW what the PS5 game sales have anything to do with the PC game sales?

It is like saying iPhone sales in Brazil should be equal to iPhone sales in US lol

Apparently some people were arguing when sales of the game announced it at 3 million on PS5 that the game was a failure and needed to be ported to other systems in order to be profitable
which, maybe ports do bring in more profits, but Square didn't need saving so to speak nor was 3 million some horrible disaster (probably, I dunno what Square needs for this to be profitable). Plus PC sales aren't gonna make THAT much of a difference, and I imagine the same holds true for Xbox. Though, i do like to point out that PC sales are a slow drip; the store and content stays the same between generations, so sales slowly increase over a long period of time on PC.

Ooh, so spicy and defensive. Not your usual mannerisms here, calm down 😂

In any case, it peaked at 16.2K on Steam a while earlier. It'll probably get peak CCU of 25-30K over the early weekend. The game's probably done ~ 4.2-4.5 million now on PS5. By this time 2026 it'll probably look like 5 million PS5/1 million Steam in terms of splits. Maybe another 500K on top of that between the two (leaning PS5) for 6-6.5 million total.
