Is Middleage Gamer guy a reliable source?
This. He's a podcaster and I've never seen him as a source for any credible stuff in the past.
Can't keep talking about every single little rumor from any random person that comes about.

First of all I feel for the minions. I am one myself, and to be fair if is anything like your corporate culture some of them are already looking for other places. The industry is laying off people because if you are paying attention there are loads of adjustment with inflation and other econimic factors. Have said that. I'm talking about the clowns that were pushing for this acquisition cause there were loads of random devs popping up supporting this acquisition. And some were obviously nervous. Cause you know some of us have brainsWhy is this deserved? Most developers did not advocate for acquisitions, and the industry is laying people off, meaning they can't even find other jobs easily.
These are people's livelihoods here, let's not be assholes about it.

Most layoffs are being done industry wide to show better results on the balance sheet since interest rates increased. This has fuck all to do with inflation, unless you consider that interest rates increased due to inflation (which they did). If anything, companies are benefiting massively from inflation since they increased their prices more than they increased their salaries. The industry is laying off people because if you are paying attention there are loads of adjustment with inflation and other econimic factors.
Sure, but those are a very small subset of the totality of developers working there.Have said that. "Other econimic factors" yeah all of it. Even the warMost layoffs are being done industry wide to show better results on the balance sheet since interest rates increased. Oh yeah sure them. Majority of people that just want to get by sucks and I know it.Sure, but those are a very small subset of the totality of developers working there.
But its so normalised that you might think I don't care but it happens all the time everywhere. I also had bonus. But suddenly the targets became unachievable. Its crazy out there
6 years is enough for a console life-span. Its on the short side but only by a year. As for Sony copying them, you can't ground up design a modern machine like that in only a year. Not that it really matters, if all they have is a Steamdeck with no exclusives then they're fucked. The Switch/deck format isn't going to be new technology in 2027, it will be literally a decade old at that point with multiple established competitors. This plan is so dumb. Lets say Xbox does that in 2026 (huge middle finger to the people that bought a Series) and it somehow works great for them, Sony could just copy it in 2027/2028 and destroy them again with all their momentum.
Lol, the games they announced before releasing the console arent even out, pathetic if they release a console in 2026. The Xbox Series is a complete disaster and if the date to release another one it will do even worse.6 years is enough for a console life-span. Its on the short side but only by a year.
