Just an FYI Sony doesn't own the MLB license. They will release the game where they are told to release it.

The one that is published by someone else on Xbox and has nothing to do with Sony?

When it comes to certain users sadly the facts/truth of it doesn't matter when there is an opportunity to criticise a platform they aren't fond of.

Behaviour is bizarre to say the least.
Imagine arguing that Sony "has nothing to do" with MLB The Show when cheering for Microsoft to get COD, Crash, Starfield, etc

Yes because Microsoft was so involved in the development of all these franchises. The hypocrisy of these clowns 🤡

Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo were timed for Sony because ZeniMax needed money upfront and in this case, Arkane and Tango were very close to being shutdown. If it wasn't for Microsoft, ZeniMax would have either filed for bankruptcy or shutdown those studios followed by Machine Games. Since Tango, Arkane and Machine are my favorite studios within Bethesda, im very happy that Microsoft acquired them.

As for other games being planned to be multi-platform, you technically wouldn't have gotten anything if studios were shutdown or if ZeniMax filed for bankruptcy so no one on either side would have gotten anything. Microsoft literally saved ZeniMax/Bethesda.
man, you spreading fallacy and fud.
m$ bought zenimax/bethesda for 8,3B. it was reported for 7,5B because zenimax/bethesda had 800M in Cash.

800M in cash and zenimax filling for bankruptcy. in what kind of dreamworld you live on to justify and make excuses for that trash company? no need answer. i am good 😂

MLB The Show is licensed to Sony by MLB. When Sony/MLB renewed the deal, it required that the game be multi-platform. This was from MLB. Sony either had to agree or lose the license. Obviously, they accepted the deal in order to keep the exclusive MLB license. MLB made the offer/deal. Sony accepted.

What isn't on Sony is MLB The Show being on Game Pass day one. That was all MLB going to Microsoft and they agreed on a deal. Sony never had any clause in the renewed deal to prevent the game from going on Game Pass. Due to this and via that Apple/Epic court shit and via Resident Evil VIII: Village, Sony implements one year clauses minimum that prevents any game they have a marketing deal for from going on Game Pass until that clause expires and even then, it's obviously up to the respective publisher if they want to accept a Game Pass deal or not.

Bethesda was basically losing money on almost every one of their releases. Most notably Dishonored series, The Evil Within 1 & 2 and Wolfenstein 2 and especially Youngblood. They were in negotiations since 2018 with Microsoft and took about two years to get the deal done. Bankruptcy was just a matter of time for ZeniMax Media. They also questionable people on their board of directors to put it mildly but feel free to research it all yourself.

As for having any kind of FUD, that's hilarious because I own both XSX and PS5 so regardless if Microsoft acquired them or if they somehow stayed independent wouldn't have changed anything for me so it doesn't matter.

Microsoft is a trash company but yet somehow someway, Sony isn't? LMFAO!!! Okay sure. Every company is a trash company. PlayStation fans somehow thinking that Sony cares about them despite the fact that they don't even know you exist.

Yes I do and you do you do something else besides going around calling out Sony fans for being "warriors"???

You never seem to have any issue with Xbox warriors tho how strange. You've been shilling for GP as far as I remember. I remember your posts on GAF quite clearly so you can drop the act. You're not fooling anyone.

Edit : I just went back to check and yeah you've been cheering for MS to buy Take 2 and Ubisoft next so you can get everything on your GP sub. You were rubbing it in Sony fans face after the Bethesda and Activision purchase and then you hide behind "I own all the consoles". I'm so tired of your act. F off.

I apologize i didn't respond sooner, I was at work. With that said, there is no need to to get angry. This is what I can't understand about all this. You take it all so seriously. You get mad, telling me to F off, etc. Why? If you look into the post you quoted, I never mentioned Sony or MS warriors. Feel free to read again. I don't like ANY console warring, I don't care who's side it is.

As far as my post history, you seem to have left out my remarks about making fun of 343, (which ironically some of your Sony fans even liked) or about how Ratchet is my favorite game this gen "PS5", Or when I mention how much I love Days Gone, it being one of my favorite last gen games. Or what about how awesome the new PS Plus is, how I believe they are "bringing the heat" with all these great games. What about how much I love Infamous and Resistance and how Sony should bring them back. I could go on and on.

Point being, I'm a fan of all games, even my old PS2, and 360, it's all about the games and having fun, not fighting with someone because they have a different opinion. So you can put me on ignore or whatever makes you feel better but if you want this new forum to be successful, you should try treating others with respect.

Sorry I deleted the swear word. I know this place is supposed to be a "clean state" but it's hard when there's so much history with the same posters 🥴

I just remember you always siding with the Xbox warriors. It's pretty obvious even here. Sure you like some Sony games but it doesn't mean you don't have a bias.

Sony is an entertainment company making art, music, movies, games and TVs since forever. They are harmless.

Microsoft is a massive corporation with political/military power and a very fishy history. It is so weird to see so many cheerleaders for that soulless corp. Only the videogame fanboys wants to give them even more power 🤮

You believing that Sony is harmless. That's hilarious. lol

I'm not cheerleading for Microsoft to become more powerful. They can exist for the next thousand years or die tomorrow. All I care about is what's best for me, not others which includes fanboys on both sides or for those ten or twenty years down the line. The more publishers and development studios they acquire, the less I have to buy and the more I get which is what matters to me. Sony can do the exact same shit and my response would be the same because it would be beneficial to me.

Every company including Microsoft and Sony want you to pay more and get less in return. My philosophy is similar but with a twist. I want to PAY LESS and GET MORE in return and in all honesty, with Microsoft, I have. With Sony, not so much. Now if Sony wants to copy Microsoft and put their games on PS Plus day one and get some third party AA/AAA titles that im interested in day one as well, then awesome because that would be great for me.

FOR ME, that's exactly what it is. Nothing more and nothing less.

I paid a buck to convert three years of XBL Gold to three years of GPU and I feel like I got zero value for my money. But if you feel that way, awesome.

Actually, that's not true. It did help me realize I did not need an XSX anymore for the time being, and I got 500 bucks for it. 😁

At the same time I've paid hundreds of dollars towards products from both Nintendo and Sony this year, and feel like I've gotten MORE than my money's worth. Sometimes actually paying for things means you're getting a superior product. Looking for the best deal often means you're getting garbage.

Sony is a lot more than an entertainment company lol
They have other businesses in Japan but Worldwide they are nothing compared with Microsoft Corporation. It's an entertainment and hardware company.

For every little trivia about Sony you can find, I can find something far worse for MS. It's not even in the same stratosphere. We're talking US and Chinese government ties.

Sad how you just want to get a deal and you don't care if that means Microsoft buys every third-party publishers and kills the competition. Awful attitude.

Doesn't change the fact that MS is far more likely to put their titles on other platforms than Sony is with their titles. It's all business but to act like MS is a bad actor while Sony is virtuous is laughable.

Ask yourself if Sony would have honored existing deals or released games on other consoles like MS has…. answer is hell fucking no.
I love this kind of hypocritical projection, people accusing others of assigning a personality to a company, and then doing exactly that...

Honoring existing deals isn't some kind of honorable choice, it's just easier and more practical from a legal standpoint. Both companies will only honor anyyhing that they strictly have to. PR promises are 100% going to get broken down the line. Watch MS permanently remove COD from PS after the deal is closed, even though they promised to keep it there. How virtuous of them...

They are both soulless corporations, but if you ask me which is objectively more powerful and therefore dangerous...

As I read the latter part of the thread, it reads as gloating about an upcoming monopoly from the same people who used to cry about "Sony becoming too powerful".

On one hand, it's unfair that Sony manages to get third party (in most cases timed) exclusivity deals in an equal playing field, while on the other hand, buying out publishers is ok for Microsoft if they are the only ones who can afford to and nobody's fault if Sony can't afford to.

Same ridiculous hypocrisy carrying over from that other forum.

The ABK deal is anti-competitive and everybody knows it. The FTC is going to let it pass because it gives an American company an advantage, everybody knows that too. US institutions are not what they were 30 years ago, MS is one of the companies that uses lobbying the most.

This just tells me that you're not into Xbox. Nothing wrong with that. I bought and owned a Switch for two years and out of 5 games, 2 of them were truly worth playing while the other 3 were a waste of money. While I enjoyed those 2 games, just because I spent money and full price by the way on those things doesn't mean that they were worth it or that they were the superior product.

Like you said though, sometimes paying for something means you're getting a superior product but that can just easily go the other way and get an inferior product. You paid $1 to convert three years of Gold to GPU and felt like you got zero value out of that $1. But im not someone who stays subscribed to Game Pass (or any subscription that im not using on a consistent basis because that would make zero sense). I subscribe when there's a day one game that I want to play and I don't play bad/average or even good games. Every game I play has to hit at least an 8/10 on my scale. Any game I feel that is lower gets dropped and uninstalled.

But back to the money aspect. A Plague Tale Requiem will be the next game I subscribe to Game Pass for. A nice $10 monthly rental. Innocence was an 8.5/10 for me. Requiem will be at least or most likely higher. Paying $60 for this game instead of $10 isn't going to make me feel like im getting a superior product when the product is the same regardless of how much I paid to play and complete it.

Sad how you just want to get a deal and you don't care if that means Microsoft buys every third-party publishers and kills the competition. Awful attitude.
Perhaps but you have to remember, just like those who are against Microsoft buying this or that because it's not beneficial to them is no different than how im looking at things. Plus, let's say for argument sake that Sony acquired Bethesda and ABK. Be honest, would you really be upset or against it? Even if you say you would be, I seriously doubt it simply based on how you come across. You just want Microsoft and Xbox to be shit and stay shit while Sony dominates. Where as with me, I don't give a flying fuck who wins. All I care about is if I win personally.

As for killing the competition, oh please. Acquiring two publishers isn't going to kill off Sony and PlayStation. Come on man. Give me a break. If anything, Microsoft acquiring publishers is going to strengthen the competition instead of it being one sided like last generation (even though that's probably what you prefer right?) because it will make Sony stand up and take notice which means that they will acquire studios which they already have and be more determined than they were last generation when it was a cake walk for them which in turn means that as a PlayStation fan, you'll get far better games, more games and who knows, maybe Sony will actually give them to you in a subscription service.

Microsoft is finally doing what so many people including myself have wanted them to do for the last decade and that's be far more competitive than ever before and because they're finally doing that, people just want to cry because it's not their favorite company doing it. Microsoft isn't buying EVERY third party publisher. There's literally hundreds of publishers in the gaming world and thousands of development studios. Buying a few isn't going to change anything. And in fact, it will make things better because like with everything in life, shit changes. Publishers who are AA now like Focus or Annapurna or whoever will simply step up and replace those that Microsoft purchased. It's the natural order of things. The old shit shit gets taken out and gets replaced by new shit.

I'm assuming you are talking about Sony being more powerful right? They are the market leader afterall and shown an ability to deny 3rd party titles to big bad MS.

The funny thing is if you look at the current generation only one company pushed up prices on 1st party titles. Only one company sells their digital current generation titles exclusively on their stores. Only one company lacks legitimate 3rd party controller options and charges gamers for cloud saves. Only one company charges gamers $10 upgrade fees.

For all the talk about how horrible Xbox is to gamers and the industry I certainly feel like at least one company respects my money and does more to provide me with value. Soulless company withstanding I appreciate the distance my dollar can take me. Competition is good for the industry and hopefully the ABK acquisition gets Sony to value their customers more and provide better services.

Are you guys serious? My post literally says published by someone else on Xbox, aka not Sony. And you’re trying to explain to me how Sony develops the game 😆

Well no shit. But it coming out on Xbox is not a Sony decision, it’s an MLB decision. I hope that clears it up for you detectives.
I know right. I was totally right about Sony NOT owning the MLB license he had the nerve to call me a clown which one, hurts my feelings and two shows the pure emotional attachment to Sony that even facts causes him to lash out uncontrollably. I hope he gets the help he needs.

I'm not not going to change your mind on anything, and that's okay, but everyone here deserves to be treated with respect, no matter the side they're on. Icon-Era will be a better place for it. As a side note, I will end with this, if I HAD to choose one console to own RIGHT NOW, it would be the PS5.

Your original post was saying Sony wouldn't have honoured their commitments and stopped games being multiplatform.

As it has been proven with the MLB scenario, Sony are more than willing to go into a contractual agreement and dedicate one of their studios time and resources for the sake of MLB The Show releasing on other platforms.
