Likely a typo but then again would be funny if this was a real thing that was supposed to be reveal at the business update and that's why Gamestop deleted the tweet. Lol.

A mistake then.

More likely word got out before it was time.

Microsoft Game Pass will become the main branding, with specific devices the child/dependent branding under it. Makes sense; if they want a future with Game Pass on non-Microsoft devices (or publishing their games and related services more broadly on other platforms), they HAVE to shift the top branding away from Xbox and to something at least somewhat more neutral, like Microsoft's own corporate name.

Jez (GMG) was just talking about this on their podcast and it was a good point; Sony, Nintendo, even Apple, Google etc. don't want any part of Microsoft's gaming efforts if the Xbox branding is still being pushed on their platforms. Microsoft has to capitulate to their rules, so they will first reduce emphasis of Xbox branding, then over time probably remove it from anything that isn't strictly hardware-related (like the rumored OEM consolized PC NUCs/laptops/tablets and controllers).

It's only a "mistake" in that these ads went out before Microsoft are ready for them to. That's about it.

Xbox was given complete autonomy when they were just a small piece of microsoft even if they lost millions each year. Now that MS has invested 100+ billion to it and revenue is bigger, MS heads are going to paying more attention, and that means acting like the rest of MS. Content and services truly anywhere and everywhere to maximum revenue and reoccurring service sub money. Consolidation is what xbox fans wanted, they shouldnt be upset when this was told would happen.

Great way to put it so succinctly. Of course we still don't know what the announcement will be, but if you want "daddy's money" you should expect to play by "daddy's rules" which is software everywhere. Limiting it to the worst performing box in the market is so asinine when you're dropping the amount of money on acquisitions. Becoming third party and software focused seems like a complete no brainer compared to the past 20+ years of failure they've been experiencing.
