Microsoft says 10 years is ‘sufficient for Sony to develop Call of Duty alternatives’

That sounds very arrogant to me, specially when MS are the ones who just want 3rd party IPs to become exclusive and aren’t interested in making IPs to become competitive with Sony.

Double standards everywhere!
Sony can make their own Elder Scrolls, Doom, COD, MMOs, WRPGs and next they can make their own GTA, Fortnite, Fifa, Nhl, Madden and everything else so it's fine if they let MS have it.

Let us compete!

And they shitted their very own "use to be successful" ip in Halo. Now thy jump around with vague, bs numbers to try to prove its still up there with the big boys.

So neither MS nor Sony will have a viable CoD "alternative" within 10 years?

That would be kind of ironic, but given how none of the studios they have bought since 2017 have released anything significant... This seems reasonable in a twisted way.
But that’s the most likely scenario. PS will have a vacuum that will be replaced by something else, not necessarily CoD. MS will mismanage ABK and CoD will flop.

MS knows their type of gamers are people who love shooting things or love to play online, Xbox been marketed for decades. “Best controller for FPS, best payed online multiplayer etc…

Even EA who was super friendly with Xbox all of the sudden got silent. People love to argue that Sony is burning bridges with activision, well MS did worse with EA.

Most of us are just too happy with uninspired yearly releases of decade old IPs. It’s sad.

To be clear it should be patently obvious to everyone, regulator or not, what microsoft's intent with this acquisition is
It if was that easy, the gaming industry would be in a better place, most people get sidetracked very easily or let their love for a brand blind them.

Microsoft can say “we want to buy everything so you can only play on Xbox” and most people would still be happy and angry at the regulators and anyone who says it’s a bad thing.

In this case not "burning bridges" would be to lie down and let whatever happens happen. Sure they will say something if one of their top business partner is about to be bought by their main competitor.
