It's just hilarious that they think leaving the UK, one of the biggest markets and stock exchanges in the world is an option...

It's equally hilarious to me that they also believe Michael Pachter has a clue what he is talking about when he says MSFT can ringfence / keep ABK in UK separate to everything else and that would make the regulation somehow not apply to them.

MSFT still has to own the subsidiary, it's not like the regulator is somehow powerless to react to that, it's the exact same shit as them owning them directly and being integrated..... it's still off limits.

See.... it's the arrogance mixed with ignorance that really sets me off.... Pachter is a wind-bag.
Yeah, a lot of what Pachter says about Microsoft's options in the UK are just blatantly wrong. I'm guessing he just wants to keep his name out there by picking a side in the console war and telling Xbox fanboys what they want to hear.

Pachter didn't know what PLC was (publicly listed corporation was his guess). If I said that in my Junior Cert business class, my teacher would throw the blackboard duster at my head, safe in the knowledge that there would be no damage to the brain.

Aww Mud GIF

Hoping for something, anything, need to try to paint a narrative no matter how bleak it looks.

There's also a steady stream of tweaktown articles arguing that the CMA's arguments about who has an advantage in the cloud market are wrong and hyping up Microsoft's chances of overturning the CMA ruling.

I'm surprised given Zelda's impending release, Jedi Survivor, Ravenlok, Benedict Crumb, SF6 Demo, upcoming SF6 Open Beta (no PS4 tho, damn), showcase rumors for PlayStation, SF6 & Diablo releases coming next month and more ACTUAL gaming news & releases, these Xbox fanatics and nobody lawyers are still obsessed with the ABK acquisition.

Did RedFall damage them that badly? How are they not bored of talking about it still? At least wait until the EC gives their decision near the end of the month. Tweets and articles for clicks just makes them look even more desperate.

So what does everyone think the political fallout will be if the EU ends up ruling differently than the CMA on this deal? I know from the standpoint of the deal itself, the cma's decision will still make it very unlikely, but would it lead to the regulators being at odds with eachother?

It would paint the EU as weak and as bendy as a cheap tent. An approval would be seen as going soft on a predatory monopolist that just threatened a sovereign nation when they didn't get their way.

It would probably tank the global economy which is already on a knifes edge of Microsoft did that

Then expect COUNTLESS lawsuits against Microsoft for making their products unusable in the UK

But my Gamepass games

Nothing will happen and the deal will still be dead.

I think they keep the threads and talks afloat so people don’t forget about this because if they do, it’s definitely over.

Because they don't buy and don't play games.

They spend more time downloading and installing their gamepass games than actually playing them.

I find it funny how the same people who question why a UK regulator has a say over whether 2 U.S. based businesses can merge also cheer for U.S. senators to try and influence whether one Japanese company can sign deals with another.
