Eh, E3 is dead. These “direct” style presentations aren’t designed to make a trade show appearance, cheaper to do, and straight to your phone… and most importantly… when things are ready to show.

I don’t blame anyone for skipping trade shows anymore. GDC is different as it’s also a hiring expo.
E3 just wasn't as impactful as before due to youtube and social media, besides, E3 lost alot along the way including booth babes. Currently it makes no sense going through all that trouble paying for travelling, hotels, cameramen, lighting, stage production and the whole nine yards, when most gamers will be watching on Twitch or Youtube anyway...

Even that version was way past the heyday of E3. The real E3 was companies pissing on each other's sales numbers to impress Toys 'R' Us.

It sucks that now that I can actually afford to go these kinds of shows, they no longer seem to be worth it. Sony could at least bring back Playstation experience.

Cutting back on marketing huh?

Watch this space for a lot of the lapdogs on Twitter and different journos to suddenly be a lot less positive about Xbox

Not sure who the person in question is but apparently was involved with publishing Kojimas cloud game and is seemingly no longer with Microsoft. I’m going off this users post.

I could be wrong, but I think Xbox are the only ones who openly reward/ grant legitimacy to their worst fanboys and only cut ties when the PR becomes too negative, like with that guy in Brazil who was sued for harassing a journalist that wrote a negative article about Xbox.

As for what happens if the ABK deal goes South, I dunno if Xbox goes as far as to give up on directly competing with Playstation, but I'd have to imagine that their investors will only give them so many chances, regardless of how deep their war chest is.

No, that sounds about right. Just as an example, they legitimized VGChartz last year when they wanted to boast sales numbers in the U.S, even though VGChartz are notorious for overestimating Xbox numbers and underselling PlayStation & Nintendo numbers.

Genuinely feel that if the ABK deal is a bust, there will be immense pressure from higher ups & shareholders at MS to just go fully 3P publisher and not necessarily shutter Xbox hardware & services, but tie them back into the PC space both product line-wise and in terms of business model. I can definitely see them consolidating the Xbox hardware team into the Surface team, for example.

There was a rumor they've been considering doing that this year, who knows maybe that's what they have planned for their event closer to June. Hopefully.

Oh snap!

There might be trouble in paradise with that particular game. But at the same time, it probably wasn't very far in development anyway. They could just be cleaning house before diving into the main development phase, and better now than later.

Though, it's Xbox, so it wouldn't surprise me if they're running into some kind of issue.

How can they cut marketing so much but haven't gotten rid of greedberg yet
Because he does it for free?

Anyway, I expect more layoffs in the future, everything MS buys/ touches turns to poo!

Thank god for that OS and office monopoly or else MS wouldn’t be around.

Off topic, but with the possible destruction of Netflix and the documents about gamepass, I am looking forward for the laughs about the “Netflix of gaming.”

Anyway do not mind me I’m very tired today. Lack of coffee.

Maybe Sony can buy ID tech on the cheap?

Are we going back to physical media? That would be a strange turn of events!

Wasnt github the website that leaked xbox series s/x and ps5 specs? Remember thats where the 9 teraflops came from? So a microsoft owned company was leaking confidential information? They really did try to go all out the subterfuge this generation didnt they?

GitHub doesn't have anything to do with it. The data was hosted there but AMD(?) or someone within the company made it public. GitHub doesn't just turn repositories public.

Well, I wouldn't put it above MS to spy on hosted data, even if encrypted... They generate the keys don't they?

Eh, I wouldn't go that far, but I do think they had a bunch of shills pushing the narrative that the PS5 wasn't actually capable of 10 TF.

If the company is not ran by absolute morons, passwords won't be stored in plain text. They will be salted and hashed. So no, they can't access encrypted data.

The question now is: is the data really encrypted? If it is, is the password for your account stored in plain text, is it only hashed, or is it salted and hashed?

I believe GitHub complies with the latest standards of security, so I highly doubt the data was willingly leaked by a company employee simply because that employer can't see it.

An article written 1 year ago, like a puff-piece about how Git-hub was still doing great under MSFT, now they have no offices and most of their staff have been fired.

Sounds like an MS speciality. Talk and no evidence. I dont know a single person who pays for office or cloud servers, how the fuck do they make so much money?

Maybe they are trying to make the regulators feel sorry for them lol.
Look we dont have money for marketing and have to make all these layoffs, let us spend 80billion so we can even the playing field…

Probably the 'Office package' is now under cloud services, since you usually pay a subscription now and they raise the price all the time....

the rest is probably big contracts to companies that hear that they need cloud services because it is 'the future' and they sign up and pay millions and millions.... much like Dublin Airport did. Only to find out that if the internet goes down or the connections are unstable or there is interference, it is far inferior to just having a local system where bookings can always be accessed.

They had to cancel about 50% of flights in a day due to cloud being down. Many cases like this.

Man, the level of certainly was borderline religious zealotry. I mean there even was a group that pushed that the series S would outperform the ps5 because of a few technical sounding buzzwords.

VRR
VRS
rDNA 1.5
No raytracing support (planted by DF)
Etc. It was just insane.
