This is the most hilarious line in a whole passage worth of idiocy. Like MSFT and it's studios have some huge burden of fanboy warfare on them that is keeping them from making good games...

If MSFT and their studios could have made great games, they would have.

Nintendo laughed MSFT out of the room and Sony would laugh MSFT out of the room twice as hard. Then you have regulators who certainly wouldn't allow this to happen anyway.


The two companies are on different trajectories if you look at it.... MSFT gaming (Not Xbox) will be a thing... there will probably be little to no hardware apart from maybe a dongle and it will be a subscription based model where they mostly have games from their own studios. Netflix-Like

PlayStation will continue to be the standardized hardware home console manufacturer.... allowing customers to buy games from ALL 3rd parties and having their own offering also....with an optional subscription service that allows new gamers to get stuck in or offers some value to those on a budget.
I see them aiming to be like Apple.... a basic model and a Pro model standardized in the future with premium software / games.

There really is no reason for one to buy the other. MSFT learned a long time ago that competing with PlayStation was a very expensive and ultimately futile en-devour..... they lose too much money, so they now have charted their course for the future of MSFT Gaming.

i used to have an xbox controller a long time ago when i played on PC, it was impossible to use it in mortal Kombat 9, i just could not pull of combos and the top right bump eventually just froze up, sigh

I kind of agree with this. Microsoft makes better hardware (Xbox Series X for example), has the better services (Game Pass), way more 1st party publishers (+ 2 publishers) and A LOT more money. Microsoft will buy more 1st party studios and maybe even a third publisher.
But I would rather see Sony go 3rd party. Stop making consoles and just make games for all platforms (PC, Xbox, Switch). I already discussed this here.
I think when Sony's upcoming 10 GaaS games all flopped they will realize it's time to move on and become a 3rd party publisher.

The little extra speed of the PS5 SSD isn't needed. 1 or 2 second difference in loading times on a few games? Cool, I guess.
XSX is more powerful overall. That is a fact. Sony almost needed 1 1/2 years to add a half-baked VRR. It's simply not as good as the XSX. At least it's better than the XSS.

Its not just the speed of the ssd itself which is double what Xbox series x is. Its the custom I/O setup they have for decompression of date. They have dedicated hardware thats literally for throughout put of data something Xbox will never have. Hence 2 second load times to instant level loading for all custom Playstation software.

I did a chart. Microsoft spent like 100 Billion dollars JUST to be roughly on par with Playstation Quality/Quantitiy game output.

That would be only the starting offer for the Playstation division alone. For the entire SONY conglomerate they would have to reconsider all their assets and if I would assume, it be like 200 billion Dollars they would have to pay. And as @Bryank75 already said, the regulators would never allow such deal. But as I know them they already tried to ask Sony if they would sell their soul to them...
