Soon you guys are going to come up with some explanation of how Office and Windows are actually ways MS found to try to push Gamepass on people.

Why does MS have to push this product so hard? Aren't people liking it?
It actually is, you can only use Gamepass on Windows, matter of fact, you can only game on Windows so they have the monopoly there.

Anyway, that's not how businesses work, costumer aquisition is real and expensive.

They have interest in it's userbase. It's worth a lot more than streaming. It's actually something I see them doing in a not so distant future, they need that userbase to push Gamepass.
Netflix userbase is quickly declining, not really worth the 100$b investment. If they were to merge Netflix alongside Xbox Game Pass, then it could be worth it.

Well Microsoft bought the mobile division of Nokia which was successful and then killed it. The rest of Nokia is alive and have restarted their mobile business.
They made sure to keep Nokia's mobile tech patents though. And patent trolling is how MS now stays profitable in the mobile sector.

'Netflix (NFLX) has chosen Microsoft (MSFT) to help roll out its new ad-supported offering — but one analyst says the deal might conceal "a hidden agenda" while questioning the timeline of this agreement.

"It could be that Netflix is looking for an exit," Laura Martin, Needham senior analyst, told Yahoo Finance Live on Thursday, proposing perhaps the streaming giant is making long-term play to be acquired by Microsoft.

The analyst went on to explain that no other company that Netflix could have partnered with would have been able to make the $100 billion purchase, either due to financial constraints or regulatory issues.

"Netflix is trying to get closer to Microsoft in hopes that, after Microsoft digests its Activision acquisition, it turns and buys Netflix next," Martin suggested.

The bold prediction comes as Martin questioned Netflix's decision given Microsoft's lack of experience in the third-party ad tech business.'

Would this be a smart move for MSFT or were you hoping they would go for something else?
The only way I see this being good on M$ is that with Azure being the dominating force it is that operations would be a drop in the bucket for them.

Very stupid move. Netflix is on the decline and has lost the support of the public opinion.

I disagree.

Thats why it is a good move. Its on the decline thus the value is just right for the buyout.

Netflix is still the number 1 streaming platform, their only rival would be Amazon. Public opinion regarding a lot of this is irrelevant lol Folks have put in their own bias on this shit to the point where none of it can be taken seriously. The moment someone starts saying "woke" or crying over a show being canned etc, it means its not an objective thing that anyone should be using to measure any of this.

This would be a massive, massive purchase.

Think sound and logically here. Could you not say "very stupid move, Call Of Duty is on the decline" when MS bought them? What is that for Call Of Duty? Oh 25 million or 19 million instead of 30 million? And....thats suppose to be bad? For whom?

That is what we are at with Netflix, telling us the giant number 1 in this space dropped a bit, yet is still number 1 isn't a sign to not buy lol Its a sign use that leverage to make the buyout now. So they've been trying to be the Netflix of gaming for some time now, what better then to be the Netflix of Netflix lol So i'm trying to see this as objective as I can and I see this as a sound, smart move for MS. I don't even see any other company that they can buy that would be bigger. MS can't buy Amazon, but they can buy Netflix. Why would they not want the biggest streaming network?

This reminds me of the old meme videos about the Xbox One reveal where they said TV TV TV TV again and again, but now it's streaming. Is their goal to merge videogames with movies and series?

I dont believe it. Netflix's Shark gaming deal linked and had PS5 controller images and stuff on the server. Ive seen nothing related to that yet. And the games on Netflix was crap like make the basketball shot.

Makes it even more stupid to go after Netflix when HBO Max is already better. But like I said, MS doesnt care about quality.

nahhhh lol
200 million plus users is better sir. This is business. HBO Max is still getting their feet wet, Netflix is deep in the ocean with this.

So right now many more people are talking about Resident Evil show, Stranger Things new season, Umbrella Academy new season etc.

Next month they'll be talking about the Sandman show and the new season of Cuphead
Next month after that they'll be talking about new season of Cobra Kai, that Cyberpunk anime show etc.

They already have a rotation of a lot of shit. HBO is what....Peacemaker and just watch that on repeat until The Last Of Us comes out? lol Sir....HBO doesn't even have enough shit for me to care to pirate. When I look on Frostwire and realize only 2 shows were from HBO, clearly....I would never spend the money for so little. So I have nothing against HBO trying and I'm happy they fucking stopped low bailing those shows as they were even in talks to have House Of Cards, Netflix paid up, Witcher? Netflix paid up, Fallout? Amazon took that contract. HBO likely had to go hardball and really fucking pay up to get The Last Of Us , but they lost many many deals cause that stupid ass cheap behavior. They even lost out on the studio that did the Band Of Brothers and Pacific show, they are now doing some airforce show thing on Apple.

Just to show I'm not saying this JUST to bash HBO, they have done better and made some good moves.

1. The WB deal for the films to come to HBO Max is massive and a great move.
2. Bidding more aggressively to combat Amazon and Netflix.

Regardless, they have a long way to go and they may have lost those studios and deals. So the idea that one is better here or there is silly when you realize those fucking studios USED TO MAKE HBO SHOWS! They now make Amazon, Apple, Netflix shows etc. Its not a building called Netflix where a show is being made, its a show with a budget, a studio, a script etc and they are looking for a distributor to back. Thus, if HBO low balled The Last Of Us, you'd just see that same studio, with the same cast, with the same story...on Netflix. So when you see that Airforce show on Apple, please don't fucking cry to me that they are copying HBO....

The quality you'll see in that show is from the fucking PEOPLE that made the show you simply SAW on HBO. I think maybe thats the best way to explain all that lol Netflix even got a bunch of studios that used to do the Discovery ID stuff to do those documentaries and crime shows and such, but a conversation for another day lol.

HBO has an entire catalog of great shows, decades making top tier shows: Band of Brothers, Trued Detective, Generation Kill, The Deuce, The Wire, Succession, pretty much all the best shows ever with very few exceptions.

Again, it wouldn't be out of character for MS to not see the value in quality entertainment, that's how they ran their Xbox division for 20 years and the result is that their library of games is putrid in comparison to what Sony and Nintendo built in that time.

Resident Evil show? Cuphead show? More Cobra Kai? Cyberpunk? Makes me want to cancel Netflix if that's what they have going on. Something is off with Netflix, too much garbage being produced.

yea....many of those studios that are clearly not contracted with them today. Its even funnier as some of those same studios are literally contracted with Netflix now....

This isn't about what you did before, no one really cares that much. Not many are buying a subscription based on shit from 20 years ago plus years ago.

Resident Evil show? Cuphead show? More Cobra Kai? Cyberpunk? Makes me want to cancel Netflix if that's what they have going on. Something is off with Netflix, too much garbage being produced.

yea, shit that has them ranked at number 1. I don't even fucking give a shit about Cobra Kai, I'm not telling you as a fucking fan of it, I'm telling you cause it ranks in that top 5 on a platform of over 200 million.

You are questioning why MS would buy Netflix based on a personal issue, not a logical one. Might as well question why they bought Activision cause you don't like Call Of Duty lol

, it wouldn't be out of character for MS to not see the value in quality entertainment,

Shit man, you can question MS all day...they might make questionable moves, you questioning 200 plus million people? nah man, foh.

I don't watch the vast majority of what is on Netflix, but I watch enough to know why they are number 1 without a distant second and what I don't watch that I see ranked high and breaking all sorts of streaming records, I recognize someone likes it.

Most of what I watched this year across Amazon, Hulu, Apple and Netfilx, by far Netflix is the front runner. I'm happy to have 1 or 2 shows pretty good on a network, Netflix is that every fucking month at this point.

Stranger Things
new Ozarks season (in my top 10 favorite shows of all time)
Top Boy
All of Us Are Dead
Midnight Mass
Sweet tooth
Umbrella Academy

annnnnnd next month is the Sandman show...this is a fuck ton to have and we are not even at the ending of the year. Thats just what I personally like btw that ranks high, other shows that I could care less about get tons of views like the reality stuff they have going on. So having in your mind some feelings shit from back in the day with the wire or Band Of Brothers is irrelevant.

I'll watch We own this city, I'll watch The Last Of Us...but sir, looking at the list of what I've already seen on Netflix and what I plan to see, I think you can understand why I wouldn't pay for HBO Max. They have tons of genres that Netflix is is doing massive numbers on that I don't think you fully get just how high up there Netflix is. From reality shows, cooking shows, documentaries, comedies etc. They cover so much, it would take a lot to topple where Netflix is right now and its why I say they ae in a deep number 1 spot. I can't say something like AMC or HBO would do this or that, sir...right now Netflix is more like an entire fucking cable line up vs 1 fucking network like you see with HBO or AMC, as in Netflix is getting contracts from food network studios, Discovery ID, past HBO studios, past Starz Studios, doing reality stuff from teams that did all that VH1 shit lol Its not saying I like it, its saying some of the shit ranked at the top, I don't even watch or know a lot about and it could be trending and getting millions of views...so my examples given in that other post is based on the wide net they cast, not a personal view as I could care less about a Cyberpunk anime lol but I know someone will, just like I know someone will watch those cooking shows or Korean dramas they have. HBO simply isn't in that ballpark, they are not even in the parking lot. It would be like saying Lays that makes fucking chips could beat Walmart that makes.....well everything lol
