Ahh, another "Sony sucks" comment section, comparing to Nintendo and how good they're doing.

Yet, no one's willing to look at it objectively. You want Sony to be as successful as Nintendo? Say goodbye to high end tech and games. Games like Horizon? Not possible. Ghost of Tsushima? Not a chance.

Most of Nintendo's games don't even have voice acting. Nintendo's doing the way they are is because they skimp on both hardware and software development costs. If Sony did that, you'd be out here complaining how their games and hardware suck.

I see that people are finally starting to agree with me when it comes to Nintendo being the dominant force when in consoles and having a much better approach to selling consoles than Sony does.

Way to completely miss the point. This has nothing to do with game budget, it has to do with Nintendo betting on themselves and on their strengths while Sony for some reasons bets on copying what has already destroyed Xbox.

We get it, you love PlayStation, that doesn't change the fact that the current leadership sucks and is well on their way to kill the brand.

It's not our fault that Sony sucks, they chose that path.

The Nintendo Switch projections for the fiscal year ending March 31st 2025 are 13.5 million units for hardware and 165 million units for software.

That's a pretty soft drop YoY that they're forecasting for hardware.
14% drop or a forecast of 13.5M(compared to 15.7M last FY)
17.1% drop for software with 166.5M units(compared to 199.67M last FY)

More than 30M less in software sales makes sense, they're not going to have the combo of Zelda + Mario.
Must be a price cut somewhere in preparation for the Switch successor, which would make sense if you look at the forecast for net profits(-38.9%)
We're deep deep in the Switch's lifespan and so the number of new software releases that would convince people to say: I'm buying a Switch is not really there anymore.

Switch hardware sales are declining slower than I thought.

PlayStation could have reached such numbers but instead decided to be Valves bitch....

Sony can learn a lot more from Nintendo than from the big American Corps. Imagine trying to copy the Loser Xbox instead of the successful company Nintendo. ☠️
Anyway kudos to Nintendo.

Sony has better numbers than Nintendo in most metrics.

Nintendo did $10.82B in revenue this FY, under half of what SIE does. They did 490602M yen($3.18B) in profit, more than SIE does.

Switch software sales (1235.82M) continue way under PS4 (way above 1700M), PS2 (more than 1537M) and under launch aligned PS5 software sales.

Same goes with game subs, Sony continues making way more money than Nintendo here.

Regarding supersellers, Switch has only 14 games that sold 15M units or more, all of them 1st party. If counting 3r party, Sony has way more games that sold 15M or more. If counting only 1st party, Sony is under Nintendo but getting closer.

Even if they should slow down faster after Switch 2 gets released, they are getting very close to DS (154.02M) and seems that pretty likely Switch will slightly pass it at the end of the current FY if they achieve their forecaast (154.82M), getting very close to PS2's 160M.

Nintendo is the real market leader
No, they aren't:
  • PS has the biggest market share, around half of the console market if counting Nintendo.
  • SIE has the biggest revenue share, makes over twice the revenue than Nintendo did this FY
  • PS has the biggest console active userbase
  • PS is the platform where more games are sold every year and generation
Nintendo targets 13.5 million units for next fiscal year (-14%).
If they succeed, the Switch total will be 154.82 million units.
Seems optimistic but realistic to me. I think it also indicates that Switch 2 will be released March 2025 the earliest.

I have a question: did they share MAU?

So you just want to ignore Xenoblade,Fire Emblem and Eternal Darkness?

"Sony sucks" comment section, comparing to Nintendo and how good they're doing.

We are allowed to criticise the things we love, I love Sony but they have been extremely pathetic this generation. These past 4 years have been the worst.

Nothing that Sony has done since the ps5 launch has been praise worthy.

Regarding supersellers, Switch has only 14 games that sold 15M units or more, all of them 1st party.

And none of them dropped in price, all sold at full price and significantly cheaper to make.

Come on, buddy, this is a wrong. Sony made a killing during the PS4 gen and that console was powerful enough to play PS5 games on.
It's fine making expensive hardware, as long you have the games to back it up. Year One PS5 did just that, then they shit the bed.

Also consider that Nintendo has the handheld market to themselves. Also consider Sony could have had the console VR market to themselves and again, released fantastic hardware without the software to back it up.
Instead they port old games to PC for some fucking idiotic reason, while allowing PS5 owners to sit with their dick in their hands wondering where the fuck the exclusives are.

I'm not a Nintendo fan, but you know their exclusives are coming and always will, for better or worse.

The bayonetta and xenoblade saga less than 4 million each in a park of 140 million consoles? Wild.
Likewise, despite everything, Nintendo's health is enviable. Seeing this, it is more difficult for me to understand the steps of PlayStation in bringing its great sagas to PC due to miserable sales except for Helldivers 2. Let's not forget that Sackboy BA sold a little more than 65,000 copies when on PS it is almost 2 million. Anyway.
