The numbers are fake.

And in realty it higher than 40k per day.

For example from April to September Sony sold 8.2 million units.
That means 45k in average per day.

Or from January to September Sony sold 14.5 million.
That means 68k in average per day.

With holidays that number will go even higher.

If Sony reaches 25 million in the fiscal year that means 68k in average per day.

If Sony reaches 25 million in the first year that means 68k in average per day.

Yeah. Year so far is around 53k/day, and it will very likely increase since the best months are due now.

Do you know what an average is?

Sony's official figures for the current calendar year from January to September 2023:

Q4 January-March: 6.3M
Q1 April-June: 3.3M
Q2 July-September: 4.9M

Total: 14.5 million

As this site uses vgchartz, which has never been accurate, this gives 12.38 million with the month of October added, so we end up with 2 million less.

Cool. So that ups the average to ~ 52.9K a day for PS5, and 13.65K a day for Xbox Series S and X.

Or a near 4:1 ratio in favor of PS5 (PS5 #s are cut off for September forward, too, so the average is actually higher when you factor in October and up to November, which is what we've done for Xbox Series here). 3.875:1 to be exact but, again, with more up-to-date data included, would lock it practically 4:1 PS5 over Xbox Series for the year.

You ever heard of a slaughter?

Yes.

2023 shipment: 14.5m
2023 days up to a September 20: 212

2023 average: ~68k per day

Even if you discount 2 million in shelves that is still 12.5m / 212 = ~59k average per day

It is basically not that bullshit 40k average fake data.

So their source for the fake numbers is VGchartz, this explains the nonsense.
February and March remains absolutely massive months for PS5 this has nothing to do with that site, since I don't check for them anyways.

The two highest months in the US and Japan so far PS5 alone happened in those two months outside of post hardware revision.

Absolutely insane, hoping it continues for many years.
For many years?
impossible. This is PS5 peak year. Downhill from here in terms of sale.
If they hit 25 million they wont be able to beat that for the remainder of the gen.

Great console, and a great time to jump into the current generation, which feels like it's still ramping up. I don't think PS5 will be fully utilized before 2025.

I think for mist major titles, 1st and 3rd, those people already bought a PS5.
bro gta6 is a huge pull for casuals, the ones who are still on ps4 will run out and grab a ps5 for this game. There's still 10s of millions of them out there with no ps5.

You think gta is gonna sell 10s of millions of ps5s at this point in the gen? Yeah ok.
Not everyone transitions over from previous gen, by that logic xb1 would have sold as much as 360 and PS3 as much as ps2 breh.

GTA6 will easily sells more than 30 million alone on PS5 this gen.
You are talking about a franchise that sold on PS4 alone 95 million as of November 2018.
Yeap over half of these 190m announced come from PS4 alone (it is probably over 100 million today).

Edit - Who I'm kidding it will sell over 40m.

Even if half of the GTA5 users didn't buy GTA6 on PS5 it still sells over 50 million :D
People forget GTA5 sold on PS4 alone over 100 million copies.

I will say more... the constant GTAV in top sales ranking just show how consumers are starving for a new GTA.

BTW,

In order to sell 150,000,000 (150m) consoles in a 7 year console lifecycle:

Per day average = 58,709 units per day.

Say there is a trickle and spillover to year 8.

Per day average = 51, 370 units per day.

Long ways to go to get back to PlayStation's natural install base of 150m which got destroyed by the Xbox (MS) market shock.

"OMG it's selling so much better!!!"

How much better?

5-10 million more lifetime better? or 25-40 million more lifetime better?
Marginal incrementalism, almost status quo? or significant gain in market share?

Keeping the status quo with a touch of marginal incrementalism is not good enough imo. The hallmark of stagnant caretaker leadership, specially considering how weak the supposed main competitor is aka MS' Xbox, unless there is also another competitor not being talked about.... say PC, eating at the wings.

Cool, my point is impact on hardware. Its not gonna sell 40 million ps5 the same way gta5 did not sell 100 million ps4’s.

but people don't buy ps5's only for gta? for example if next year would have normally been 18m ps5 sold, gta6 would easily net +7m more ps5 on top
