Todd ain't quitting he fits in perfectly with Phil & coWow. I would joke about this that both Pete and Todd would quit due to gamepass and less sales … but there’s it is…
He says he's retiring, and he's VP of publishing (not a CEO or studio head).Playstation should scoop him up for a new studio.
He retiring for about 6 months until he spontaneously comes out of retirement just like shinji mikamiHe says he's retiring, and he's VP o HR and marketing (not a CEO or studio head).
Also, their last several games underperformed compared to their previous works.
Pete already said “this isn’t the last of me you’ll see” , which means once his non compete ends he’ll be working somewhere elseMikami never announced retirement. That was just xbot damage control.
I wouldn’t doubt that Pete Hines is actually retiring from the industry. But it’s kinda difficult to not view it negatively considering the well documented exodus of talent post every Microsoft gaming acquisition (not including layoffs).
Yeah he was the one that questioned upper management through an email on why they had to cut 2/3rds of their potential profit (Playstation) but Xbox was leaving CoD on Playstation. Is this the guy that wasn’t happy about making Bethesda games exclusive to Xbox?
Well, we know what ex Ms executives do when they move to another company, prepare it for purchase to get their job at MS back!He isn't a dev he could become the playstation CEO
Too soon to say "almost". If regulators don't stop them, the crash will happen. And the follow-up book "How Microsoft almost caused the 2nd video game crash"
Playstation should scoop him up for a new studio.
Who?
Senior Vice President and head of publishing for Bethesda, he wrote in emails that he was mad Activision games would still come to PS but Bethesda games wouldn't. And he apologized to PS fans about not getting anymore Bethesda gamesWho?
Well, not exactly nepotism since he doesn't have family there but, based on the video from the ex-Xbox staffer that recently came out, it definitely seems to be some form of cronyism throughout the entire department. That would certainly explain people like Phil keeping their jobs while failing upwards. You finally said something reasonable xD.
He might have some strong insight on WRPGs that could be helpful for certain Sony 1P that want to venture more fully into that genre type, or to help Sony solidify partnerships or M&A strategies of WRPG developers like CDPR or Larian.
It's just a bit funny that both him and Bobby Kotick are out, but the worst CEO among the three (Phil Spencer) is trucking along just fine. Nepotism in some form, at its finest.
At this point it has to be some form of nepotism. He must have some really strong bonds with Satya, Smith and/or members of Microsoft's BoD, because his position seems ironclad.
