What are you talking about? Phil Spencer is a fucking visionary; I now have more exclusives to look forward to on PlayStation than ever before.

They need to give the man a rise.

Apparently you weren't able to play free games like fortnite on Xbox until 2022. I might be wrong though.

But Sony just came out completely swinging with the Ps4, they also gave out games with PS+ which was incredible at that time. Also the game sharing and used games and price, while pushing kinect..

Also Phil's emails about buying out sony out of business, buying Nintendo/zenimax/Warner bros is so cringe.

While also buying out Inxile, Ninja theory, obsidian, zenimax. Which all had games on Playstation just to make them no longer available on Playstation, (Hellblade 2, Starfield, Outer worlds 2, etc.)

While sony hasnt done with a single IP or acquisition, sure they acquired bungie, but it's still releasing games on Xbox.

MS is buying stuff out just so they won't release stuff on PS, while the exclusives PS has were never out Xbox, such as bluepoint IPs, and guerilla back in 2005, or they're just acquiring solid studios which have no games.

You really have to think how absolutely horrible the console industry would be if sony didn't exist to give competition.

Incidentally, Phil became head of Xbox Game Studios (or whatever MS called first party) back then. So, his damage on the brand started even before the Xbone announcement.

All along their main problem has been that their games fucking suck and this dude was put in charge of that for the second half of the 360 gen (before that he was destroying Rare and Lionhead).

Over 15 years in charge and the dude has nothing to show for it, not a single relevant high quality new IP. Halo, Gears and Forza beaten to death. Is there even a single prestige studio that this dude was able to nurture over this time?

All their hardware problems, bad decisions and abusive behavior would be but footnotes if they actually had been showing up with high quality games for the past 15.

Bethesda and ABK acquisitions aren't going to help at all with their quality problem as well, even before they were bought they were already struggling big time on that front and I doubt Phil Spencer will be the guy to fix it.

Xbox was beyond dead back in 2016 or so. Xbox barely had 4 studios under their umbrella.

He certainly extended the lifetime of the platform convincing Nadella to believe on Xbox and the possible future of a subscription ecosystem. (Nadella loves subscriptions)

However, like others have pointed out, he's just a clown in front of the crap show. Replace him with anyone, and nothing will change at this moment.
