Its going to be decades before all this damage to the brand is undone, they have destroyed most of the good will with the PlayStation fanbase
It was a failure to entrust PlayStation to the West. They should never hsve moved their HQ to California to begin with. I really hope even if it's years away that Sony will reallocate their HQ back to Japan. If someone csn save PlayStation it's the Japanese. PlayStation is a Japanese console brand. He ce it has to return to its roots. So tired of the mess the western leadership has caused. Time to end Hollywood's reign.

Different situation.
PS3 was expensive because of cutting edge tech and everything they tried cramming into the box; cell, PS2 for BC, Blu-ray player and split ram (dumb).
All they had to do was wait for the console price to drop, their teams to get used to the architecture and for games to be released. To fix the PS3 Sony needed time.
To fix Sony you need rapid change of course and direction, which can't happen without damaging the brand and there's no time to do it.
PS3 also had a much stiffer amount of competition and worse reputation. There is zero need to damage the brand, merely announce that future PC ports are halted indefinitely due to PC piracy and low sales. Bam, done.
The ps5 has been out for 4 years now, most first party studios have been M.I.A this entire generation and they seem to be hell bent porting their games to PC completely ignoring the loyal fans that have been with Sony since day 1.
Microsoft has released more games for the ps5 than Sony this year, let that sink in! Gamepass also comes with several months of Crunchyroll (Spny owns Crunchyroll yet we don't get anything)
This tone death approach that Sony has been going for is ridiculous. They doubled the price of PS Plus with no added value (the montly games have been rubbish for a long while now). We still don't have themes or folders. Where are the Ps2 games dor ps plus premium? When are they going to fix the ps4 - ps2 games like Okage and Ape Escape 2?
So far Sony has shown no attempt to even try and turn this around.

Announcing a U-turn damages the brand and shows a lack of direction. Even worse using the excuse of 'low sales', that does not look good. Even if they could get away with it, they're celebrating high sales of Helldivers 2, thanks in part to PC players.
If Sony, when facing stiff competition, turned their fortunes around, with 160 million ps360s sold, what is their excuse when their competition is selling abysmally?
The answer, I believe, is the console market has shrunk and is rapidly dying. The sales numbers tell us this is the case.
You know there is a reason for that. If Xbox was successful then ask yourself would MS put the games on Playstation. In addition it is not like their pipeline of first party is better, they are releasing older games. You might as well do like for like on old games and include the PS1 games re released on PS5 in your calculations.
MS isnt the only competition, you guys act like Tencent,Google,Amazon,apple,nintendo,steam and all those other mobile companies dont exist.
Apple gaming alone makes more money than Playstation,Nintendo and Xbox combined
Because serious gamers don't give a shit about mickey mouse mobile games.
Highest possible implies "within budget and other technical assumptions".
Otherwise PC gamers would run dual Quadro systems that have 48GB on each card... Consumer grades doesn't do the trick when it comes to the highest possible specs.

I think serious gamers are above caring where others like to play their games....
I do get where the concern about other companies come from, like it or not mobile gaming is going nowhere and it shapes how console and PC gaming works.
Just look at how lootboxes and Microtransactions infected AAA gaming, all of that stuff came from mobile.
Yet, going by some in this forum, that other sector is the one most relevant in gaming and the one Sony should try to appeal to.
