To say Sony has been evolving and innovating with their controllers would be an understatement. From their PSVR controllers, to their access controller and the great Dual sense Sony has been on a role butttt what would you like to see added, modified or innovated in their next controller for the PS6.

Below we have an article based on patents and future ideas. Let us know what you would like to see!

  • Sony is filing patents for a spherical controller that could enhance VR gaming by allowing players to squeeze the controller for input and simulate holding and firing a gun.
  • The new controller is still in the early planning stages, but if successfully produced, it could add a new level of immersion to VR titles.
  • Sony has been exploring unconventional ways to control games, such as controllers that change temperature based on the in-game environment, or using a banana as a controller.

I'd definitely welcome the different sensations like heat added, I think that would be so dope. Walk into a dragons lair with fire pits and you feel your controller getting warmer or walk into an ice cave and it gets colder. Due to liability I bet thts tricky but I'm sure there is a way.

Have developers besides insomniac actually release games in a reasonable timeframe

Maybe adaptive triggers on the triangle, square, circle, X buttons. Adaptive triggers are my favorite part of the DualSense, and the main buttons can benefit from them too. It can add an extra layer to gameplay design and make quicktime events more interesting. Older controllers had pressure sensitive buttons, but this is taking it to a higher level

Come on box do not derail. This is about controller innovations.

They already perfected the controller during the ps3 era. Pressure sensitive buttons and triggers
Six-axis motion controls
Wireless rumble

There's really nothing else they could add (I don't use the touch pad or microphone on the dual sense)

Nice, yeah I even love the resistance feel sometimes on the triggers but adding that to the buttons would be another level.

They can add so much more. The OP starts with things Thyve patented tht are obviously controller based. This DualSense showed there is always room for improvement. This controller blows all the previous ones away by far!

I know the higher end controllers have it but I think the standard should have removable modules you know like where the sticks are at, you get stick drift and boom you can remove that part easily and replace. I love customization too.

Haptics and adaptive triggers are great, but barely any games actually make use of them. For every Astro Bot we have a hundred games that pretend these don't even exist.

Helldivers 2 does and several others. The point isn't whether games use them or not (thts on the devs) it's what you'd like to see.

Just have someone standing over your shoulder with a blow dryer and a bucket of ice.

Smell o vision. Picture going through the valley of defilement with it smelling like shit. Or the potential for stellar blade to sell 30M units.

Split the effing controller already for eff sake.

It's a leap in freedom to use the VR2 controllers. I can have my arms where I want, relaxed and still controlling the game, rather than having to have my arms crossed like an effing vampire.

The switch does it, all VR does, why not release at least an option for consoles?

I'm sure they can easily patent and create something that breaks off as well. You can play It detached or together.

Yeah good point. Like a switch controller that comes together with the pads, rather than the screen?

They missed a trick not doing this with the portal.

I like tht idea, wasn't thinking of it and it becomes super intuitive like I love my VR controllers.

Make large touch input pad at top into screen real estate, flanked by smaller touchpad buttons up the screen side.

Re-impliment the idea of pressure sensitive face buttons.
