Over the past several months, we’ve introduced PlayStation VR2 and provided glimpses into the next generation of virtual reality gaming, which will allow you to escape into new worlds while feeling a groundbreaking sense of immersion. Today, I’m very pleased to announce that PlayStation VR2 is officially launching on February 22, 2023. PlayStation VR2 Sense controller charging station, designed specifically for the PS VR2 Sense controller, will also launch the same day.
Here is the PS VR2 lineup and recommended retail pricing for each product. Availability in each country is subject to local import regulations.

  • PlayStation VR2 Sense controller charging station
    • $49.99 / €49.99 / £39.99 / ¥5,480 recommended retail price (including tax for GBP, EUR, and JPY)
    • Players can charge the PS VR2 Sense controller through a simple click-in design, without having to connect to a PS5 console – freeing up the console’s USB ports.
Standalone software titles, including Horizon Call of the Mountain, will also be available for pre-orders starting this month. More details will be provided at a later date.
During this initial launch phase for our next-gen headset, players in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg will initially be able to pre-order PlayStation VR2 solely through PlayStation’s online store at direct.playstation.com. Pre-orders will begin on November 15, and players may begin to register for pre-orders starting today. Orders from direct.playstation.com for PlayStation VR2 headsets and bundles will ship throughout the week of launch.
In other markets, PlayStation VR2 will be sold at participating retailers, with pre-orders beginning on November 15. Information will be provided through participating local retailers in these regions.
PlayStation VR2 Sense Technology includes key features that enable unique gameplay experiences, such as headset feedback, eye tracking, 3D audio, and the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback from the PS VR2 Sense controllers. Together with compatible games they will captivate players’ senses and offer an incredibly deep feeling of immersion.
Additionally, with enhanced headset-based controller tracking and high fidelity visuals in 4000 x 2040 HDR video format (2000 x 2040 per eye), PS VR2 adds a true next-gen gaming experience for players to enjoy.
We’ve created the PS VR2 headset with comfort in mind, in a slightly slimmer and lighter design compared to our previous headset. We’ve also included an integrated vent for extra air flow, and a lens adjustment dial for a more customized feel. We hope players will enjoy this new design.
Today, we are also pleased to reveal additional titles coming to PlayStation VR2, with fresh new reveals on new titles that are currently in development for PlayStation VR2. Read our announcement here.
It’s exciting to see how game developers are taking advantage of the PS VR2’s headset features to design the next generation of VR games. We’re expecting more than 20 titles at launch, and we can’t wait for February when PS VR2 launches so players can give it a try. We’ll have more details on our launch game lineup in the future, so stay tuned.

Me and my circle of friends are Early adopters of psvr, none of us are going to buy this at 600,good Luck Sony

Personally, they should have launched at $500 with Horizon packed in. Give people a reason to jump in right away. $550 or $600 for the Horizon bundle plus an extra $550+ for the PS5 itself and this becomes an $1100 purchase minimum.

Oh well. Luckily for me, I have zero interest in VR gaming but for those who are, I hope you enjoy your purchase.

Lol, £530… I have to wait till after summer or sale, because thats more expensive than a PS5.
£200 more than PSVR1 and you need a PS5 to play it… good luck cause this feels like its not gonna do what‘s expected, its gonna be another niche device at that price.

And I need to see some good games, Horizon doesnt cut it for me for that price. At least have Half Life Alyx

I understand the pricing because of the tech it has and recent price increases of components, shipping and so on.

I think it will have its market and niche as the first one had (I think this time will be twice as big or more) but I think it's too expensive to go mainstream specially considering a lot of people is or will be affected by the economical crysis.

If half life doesn't come out, it's definitely DOA. Those games won't cut it
It's a Sony product, so you will say it's DOA and doomed even if it had Alyx, the next Halo and next Mario as launch games.

It needs quality games to survive. Especially at that price for the console guys. At least Alyx is a next gen VR game, and you need more of that to sell headsets.

Good morning classroom!
The Acronym for today is DOA! Do you know what that means kids?
That's right! Dead on Arrival !
Now if you just log on to twitter you will see many uses of this for you to see!

On a serious note its not really that far off what most people guessed it would be and if its a little out of your price range that's all you need to say.
Wait for a cheaper bundle like they did with PSVR1.
For what it is its priced reasonably well as you have to remember with PSVR 1 you had to buy the camera and move controllers separately.
With PSVR2 you get the headset Plus the controllers and camera is not needed.

650... oh man.
I know the tech is good but 650 for shitty mobile games shooters blown out into vr format is too much. More than a console which is a good deal.
Once wow factor is over, vr headsets always collect dust for me. And that idiot who develops h3vr shooting range(best vr thing ever) refuses to port it to anything else other than his precious ancient vive.
I did Finish Alyx 2-3 times. Even my Father did. It was amazing and I freaking cried on that balcony in intro. So good.

But on 3rd playthrough, You really notice how simple the game is. How slowed down it is and how hand holdy it can be. And it's the best VR game there is. You shoot like 30 enemies through the whole game.

All other stuff is the usual arcade stuff where the tutorial narrator never shuts up. never.
It's arcade fun but not for long.

So defo not worth 650 for me unless Horizon turns out incredible. Which it does not seem from initial videos.
I always come back to flat gaming for a reason. Better games, better vision and I don't have to put a sweaty thing on my head.

PSVR 2 = 600 quid

Spec wise, the PSVR 2 comes on top. So yeah. That said, I get that this is not for everybody and that the price is steep. But spec wise... It's unbeatable right now.

Index was always overpriced and now it's even more so. It's crap that falls apart when you look at it.
