If there is going to be an event aroubd or on the 30th Anniversary of Playstation I think we need to be realistic in what will be shown.
Here are my predictions on a theoretical PS showcase/ State of Play for the 30th Anniversary would look like:
GTA VI trailer 2- out now on PS5 pro only
RE4 Remake Remake
Legend of Dragoon 2
Legend of Dragoon 3
Ghost of Yotei canned
Ghost of Tsushima 2 X Devil May Cry announced for January 2025
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale 2
LittleBogPlanet 4
Dreams 2
Final Fantasy VIII remake
Final Fantasy X and X2 Remake
Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 out today
The Last of Us Part 3
Uncharted 5
Uncharted Golfing
Bloodborne Kart
And to end the show:
Grand Theft Auto VII

I don't think there is any evidence that the Game Awards helps grow platforms. Organic marketing seems a much better sell here. PS fans see games that they enjoy in a showcase dedicated to them and they talk to others about it. Not saying the game awards has no place, but not sure it's the avenue you think it is.

Having a massive audience that is more likely to not watch Sony's shows, they could get people who aren't already invested into the platform. Those who watch Sony's shows are already invested into the platform and they have them already. Also, those who are PlayStation fans (or Xbox fans) are going to keep tabs on what they're doing and what games are upcoming so it's not like they really need to watch these shows to begin with.

Always is a strong word.

It is especially in the context I was using the word but think about it, just like with Sony's shows, there's going to be the dedicated fan base for say Persona or Final Fantasy or whatever else that knows it will be on PlayStation. They know they're getting the game on their preferred platform so advertising to them is like Microsoft advertising to me. They already have me so what's the point? They're not going to gain anything by advertising to where their fan base already is so you want to market your games/services on platforms where perhaps, those fans didn't even know you were available to begin with on their platform. It's how you're going to grow that fan base and your IP's.

It's possible but I don't think the company would go in two different directions here. The Platform business group already celebrated with the anniversary editions that were not limited to japan and there is already historic precedence that the game awards don't mean they won't do anything.

Sony hasn't done a State of Play/Showcase past October (2021) in the last four years and 2024 would make it five years. I just don't see them doing anything major. Also, they'll have a State of Play in the first quarter of 2025. My money is on February. Maybe they will surprise us and actually do something major. I'm expecting Sony to do nothing of importance so either I won't be disappointed or if they do something, then awesome, it's an unexpected surprise.
