The disc drive is now sold out at all major retailers in the US.
If there isn't a new version of it coming so do I hope that it'll be in stock in my country during November 2024 or December 2024 hopefully. The disc drive is now sold out at all major retailers in the US.

That would be very great as I want to get one eventually whether it's day 1, in a couple of weeks or like 1-2 months later on.Looks like the US is getting another shipment the week after next. Hopefully the same is true for other countries or shortly afterwards.
Why buy physical in the year 2024? Once Ps7 drops, they will be dead and your disks will be worthless. Meanwhile my digital library will be just fine.... how long does it take to accept you bet your chips on the wrong horse? Coming from someone who buys a collectors edition here and there.
Even though I generally speaking don't use physical media so do I still see the importance of it and will therefor always buy a Blu-Ray etc. disc drive whether it's part of the PS5/PS5 Pro, PS6 etc. or not... As there's a use for it always even if it's very rare. And plus a console won't ever feel complete to me without one for sure!Because we like owning things that’s why.
No your digital library is not fine. It’s way more fragile than a physical disc I can sell and trade in. They can even been cleaned and stored properly. Bluray disc have more protective layer than DVD’s so they’ll last last anyway.
There’s a reason why digital shot movies started to be save to printed film. Studios realized digital content is the worst possible storage method for longevity. Film is persevered better.
It’s always funny seeing people give up ownership for corporate control of everything. Physical media will always better than digital of anything.

I am all physical. waiting for dead rising remake and wukong to release physically. It's a fact that when consoles go pure digital, you're physical discs will be worthless aside from existing consoles that can play them.
Look at PS1-3. Those physical discs are worthless.
There's no guarantee that digital will work moving forward either, but at least there is a possibility.

This is EXACTLY why I continue to buy as many games on disc as possible. But being all digital on playstation is kinda a nightmare:
-No version control. With disc I can go back to 1.0 and that's both useful and interesting at times
-No price control. Only psn prices. With discs, retailers fight each other with good deals and goodies.
-No ownership
-No offline pla
yeah we can play bloodborne 1.0 or Radahn 1.0 IF WE WANT. And that's the pointThis is EXACTLY why I continue to buy as many games on disc as possible.
I would add to the first comment on version control: There is nothing worse (in some games) than spending 50 or 60 hours on a chracter build, and then to have it nerfed. While I may also enjoy the new “balancing” - I don’t necessarily want it.
And also Audio is a big deal for me, going back to play an old game where they have lost audio rights to find some of your favorite songs gone sucks (if you have only a digital version of a game).
