If there isn't a new version of it coming so do I hope that it'll be in stock in my country during November 2024 or December 2024 hopefully.

Looks like the US is getting another shipment the week after next. Hopefully the same is true for other countries or shortly afterwards.

That would be very great as I want to get one eventually whether it's day 1, in a couple of weeks or like 1-2 months later on.

Why buy physical in the year 2024? Once Ps7 drops, they will be dead and your disks will be worthless. Meanwhile my digital library will be just fine.... how long does it take to accept you bet your chips on the wrong horse? Coming from someone who buys a collectors edition here and there.

Because we like owning things that’s why.

No your digital library is not fine. It’s way more fragile than a physical disc I can sell and trade in. They can even been cleaned and stored properly. Bluray disc have more protective layer than DVD’s so they’ll last last anyway.

There’s a reason why digital shot movies started to be save to printed film. Studios realized digital content is the worst possible storage method for longevity. Film is persevered better.

It’s always funny seeing people give up ownership for corporate control of everything. Physical media will always better than digital of anything.

Even though I generally speaking don't use physical media so do I still see the importance of it and will therefor always buy a Blu-Ray etc. disc drive whether it's part of the PS5/PS5 Pro, PS6 etc. or not... As there's a use for it always even if it's very rare. And plus a console won't ever feel complete to me without one for sure! (y)

It's a fact that when consoles go pure digital, you're physical discs will be worthless aside from existing consoles that can play them.

Look at PS1-3. Those physical discs are worthless.

There's no guarantee that digital will work moving forward either, but at least there is a possibility.

I am all physical. waiting for dead rising remake and wukong to release physically.
But what you pointed out is a real threat.
If I were buying all my games digitally, I would be ready for ps6 which might not have any drive... but even if.. .then ps7 won't have any drive.

As it is now, I would have to rebuy 99% of my games on psn. of course at deep discounts.... IF THESE GAMES ARE AAVAILABLE. I already missed out on driveclub for example. I only have it on disc. Which means it will stop being playable on one of future consoles.
That said - nobody is taking away ps5 from me. With some pain in the ass, even when ps10 will be out, I could technically connect ps5 back and play driveclub.

But being all digital on playstation is kinda a nightmare:
-No version control. With disc I can go back to 1.0 and that's both useful and interesting at times
-No price control. Only psn prices. With discs, retailers fight each other with good deals and goodies.
-No ownership
-No offline play

And some might say - "but steam is all digital"... yeah but steam have none of these issues. You got all 4 points i mentioned.
Anyway, I still prefer console gaming and discs but I am worried these will be useless

This is why it makes no sense for companies like Sony to go 100% digital. PlayStation has sold millions of physical disc since the PS4 generation that’s backwards compatible with PS5. Same scenario now with PS5 physical games. How are they going to ignore all those people with a physical library? Europe is their largest market on top of being a continent where internet is not exactly strong or even available in some places. It’s one of the reasons games like Read Dead Redemption 2 has a install disc. Places like Europe need that option instead of relying on the internet.

It’s why the PS5 slim still has a disc drive and they made a disc drive add on. They can’t abandon physical media anytime soon. PS5 also still has large physical game sales (Please nobody quote those overused out of context 80% digital sales because that’s not what it means). A lot of first party games sell majority physical.

PS1 PS2 PS3 games are not worthless at all. I have games for PS2 like Silent Hill 2, 3, and 4 that are worth thousands. Original black label cases and manual. I can still play all my PS2 and PS3 games. I can go into a store and buy PS1 PS2 and PS3 games. Some even brand new. None of those past generations games are available to buy digitally. Sony even tried closing down the PSN store for PS3 which would of completely erased all those digital games. People rightfully complained and they left it online. Which makes it worse if all the games were available digital only and proves my point exactly.

Digital is a horrible delivery method to be the only choice. It has no resale value, no guaranteed preservation, you don’t own anything and companies can do what they want with digital at anytime without your permission.

Even with movies these issues are there. Christopher Nolan talks about how owning physical media is important. Streaming sites are no good and content is not cemented to always be there. There’s been a large increase in bluray and dvd purchases because of this. Even from the most casual people who streamed movies and TV shows more than buying them. The only way to guarantee you can play and watch what you want whenever you want, no matter how much time has passed, is to buy and own the physical media of it.

Proves the demand for physical is still there.

I truly hope the market remains open and serviced faithfully. People need the option. My entire PS library is digital but I only feel comfortable doing that knowing I could run a disc on PS5 if I want to.

This is EXACTLY why I continue to buy as many games on disc as possible.

I would add to the first comment on version control: There is nothing worse (in some games) than spending 50 or 60 hours on a chracter build, and then to have it nerfed. While I may also enjoy the new “balancing” - I don’t necessarily want it.

And also Audio is a big deal for me, going back to play an old game where they have lost audio rights to find some of your favorite songs gone sucks (if you have only a digital version of a game).

yeah we can play bloodborne 1.0 or Radahn 1.0 IF WE WANT. And that's the point
