PS5 had a 43% share of all console sales over the last 12 months in UK (November 2022 to October 2023), but over the last six months (May 2023 to Oct)

Don’t forget, he was the head of Xbox Game Studios before that, for a few years, so the software pipeline issues that have crippled Xbox since 2010 are all on Phil.

He’s been shitting the bed for over a decade and a half, but since he wears t-shirts with game and dev logos on them, he’s the bestestest executive EVAR!

Yes, he was. But i've mentioned 2014 because he became a head of Xbox. Funny thing is.....people are still blaming Mattrick. LOL
Mattrick wasn’t even entirely to blame for the Bone. MS brass wanted Xbox to transition from being a games machine to being a living-room hub that would pull a Borg on all your video and TV services so they could sell more ads.

Mattrick was just the scapegoat, and is the right personality type in interviews and PR appearances for people to be fine assigning it all to him, in spite of how much MS designs by committee for everything.

Lol, I've been seeing that talking point on twitter lately. I think they were hurt by all of the people suggesting that Xbox may leave the console market in a few years so they are trying to pull a "No U!" and attempt to get an anti-PlayStation narrative trending instead.
The next thing they need to ship to all the shills are official Xbox crash helmets.

Why do retailers even bother stocking series consoles?

Might aswell put all their shelf space and marketing and promo efforts towards playstation and Nintendo.

MS wants to kill retail anyways with where they are focusing there buisness towards, so retailers should just tell them to take a hike and dump all Xbox shit.

Was reading Retard Era for a little laugh and saw the funniest comment lmfao

“The PS brand is too strong in Europe, If gamers don't embrace competition you're going to get a situation where they continually raise prices and don't have to offer the best services, features or innovate. They already have the most restricted storefront.

We've already lost Sega because gamers couldn't see past marketing. Twenty years on no one's learned”

Seems that the "MS monopoly", Sony's PC ports are finally killing PS, Sony is doomed. ;P
MS is still a software monopolistic company and they’re well aware the only way they may be able to be successful on the gaming side is by buying everything.
They’re just failing right now because they suck and they’ll always suck.
MS is incompetent and clueless and can’t win anything without using money to buy success.

It's not completely absurd, good competition changes the pricing dynamic and the behavior of platform holders.

As an example Android OS was inspired by the iPhone OS to try to compete with it then, in time, The iPhone OS was made much better by bringing in some Android features... Apple also had to relax some of their controls for apps allowed in the store (it's still pretty restricted, but much better than it used to be).

For pricing, it's pretty obvious how that could happen.

On the other hand Xbox is losing because they're just not that good at competing, they have nothing substantial to offer. I can't just go buy a console and play a couple of third party games on it to keep the competition going, that makes no sense, I'd rather send a check directly to Phil Spencer's patreon account.

We are not talking about going from one brand of hammers or another here, or even the nails brand.

To be monopolistic they should be a market leader who has the totality or almost the totality of the market and a big market power to decide what the potential competiion could or couldn't do. And it isn't the case:

Even with all the acquisitions they did they continue having a tiny market share of the gaming market and even smaller in console market or high end console market. They are just a company in a loser position acquiring some companies that are even a smaller portion of that market, still in a distant position from their direct competitors.

Yes, they suck and since aren't capable to achieve success by themselves they try to buy success because they have a ton of money. But isn't working for them.

I Don’t know how that’s revisionism. Sega did fail due to their own vices but it was also the marketing campaign sony had amping up the ps1. I also agree they’re ramping up prices for their games. I do like the idea of multiple store fronts as well to keep prices down on games.

If a regular marketing campaign that every company does is enough to wipe out a brand, that brand was doing far too many things wrong to survive. Some of the takes I've seen regarding Playstation's role in the fall of Sega are ludicrous and reek of fanboy misinformation. I've even seen dudes claim that it was Sony's fault that the Saturn had a weird hardware design and was hard to program for.

Sony games are the same price as every other publishers (2k and Activision were the first to raise the price) and they always end up on PS+ (and on sale) after awhile for cheap people.

The PS5 is constantly on sale with free games and bundles. $100+ off for the disc version, even cheaper than the digital. In some markets, Xbox is actually more expensive. As usual all this doom about prices is just uninformed people repeating each other.

I would be more worried about Nintendo never dropping the price for their stuff. Redfall is still full price and subscriptions price keep going up on Xbox.

Lmao Sony marketing killed Sega? How weak was Sega to be decimated by ads?

The absolute greed of some people when it comes to game prices is insane, and I'm not talking about game companies. $70 is long overdue and less than what games used to cost when Nintendo had a chokehold on consoles. Speaking of Nintendo, they don't cut prices on their titles - highly anticonsumer. You should be angry about that or something.
