Skill Up's review:
TL;DR:
- Quality and performance upgrade in the non-patched games he tested is mostly irrelevant.
- To him, differences between 60FPS Performance on PS5 and 60FPS Quality on PS5 Pro are hard to notice in most of the games he tested.
- There's a big visual difference in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but it's the only really noticeable case from his tests.
- PS5 Pro specific raytracing enhancements are scarce, and many of them seem to revert to 30FPS. He thinks the PS5 Pro still isn't the raytracing console some would expect.
- He thinks the unsubsidized / high price tag for the PS5 Pro stems from Sony trying to regain operating profits in a generation haunted by skyrocketing production costs for single player games and massive failures like Concord.
- Argues that Playstation hardware's value proposition has been getting diluted throughout this generation due to games eventually releasing on PC, and the PS5 Pro's price dilutes it even further.
- From his knowledge, shelf availability for the console is high and scalpers are now selling the consoles at a loss.

@Bryank75 's post, he says if Playstation is your only gaming platform, you're only paying $700 for it (i.e. live in the US) and you can spare the cash, it's a good option. Otherwise he advises people to skip or wait for a sale / MSRP reduction. Waiting also gives more time for Pro patches to appear that make better use of the hardware for e.g. raytracing.
