PSSR is a game changer for consoles. Booted up Baldur's Gate 3 and its pro enchancement is a thumbs up. I switched to performance mode and immediately I noticed the difference with the resolution. Oh, and the screen tearing issue that was plaguing the performance mode on base PS5 is solved with the Pro. Looking forward to testing out more of my other games.

For damn near $800 I think a lot of people are fine with sticking to base if they already own one, but I would heavily recommend newcomers with extra money to spare to get the Pro instead.
(y)

Personally, it falls above my budget, but I am very happy for those who can afford one and are enjoying it.

TL;DR:

- Quality and performance upgrade in the non-patched games he tested is mostly irrelevant.

- To him, differences between 60FPS Performance on PS5 and 60FPS Quality on PS5 Pro are hard to notice in most of the games he tested.

- There's a big visual difference in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but it's the only really noticeable case from his tests.

- PS5 Pro specific raytracing enhancements are scarce, and many of them seem to revert to 30FPS. He thinks the PS5 Pro still isn't the raytracing console some would expect.

- He thinks the unsubsidized / high price tag for the PS5 Pro stems from Sony trying to regain operating profits in a generation haunted by skyrocketing production costs for single player games and massive failures like Concord.

- Argues that Playstation hardware's value proposition has been getting diluted throughout this generation due to games eventually releasing on PC, and the PS5 Pro's price dilutes it even further.

- From his knowledge, shelf availability for the console is high and scalpers are now selling the consoles at a loss.

- Similar to the opinion stated in @Bryank75 's post, he says if Playstation is your only gaming platform, you're only paying $700 for it (i.e. live in the US) and you can spare the cash, it's a good option. Otherwise he advises people to skip or wait for a sale / MSRP reduction. Waiting also gives more time for Pro patches to appear that make better use of the hardware for e.g. raytracing.

What a surprising take from "yellow backpack" Shill Up. So good...

PSSR implementation is not system wide right? Like are we seeing res improvement in older non supported titles? I feel like I am noticing better image quality and performance in games not listed.

I’m under the assumption that any game with Dynamic resolution scaling will see worthwhile improvements … at least better than whatever half assed attempt ronin pulled off.

Ronin has ended up being a regrettable purchase.

The SkillUp video is receiving harsh criticism on NeoGAF.

He's fully behind the Sony is doomed train and made half of the video about it. He's living in a echo chamber reality where Sony's financials are tanking due to Concord and the rise of PC.... even though they are making record profit and revenue as we speak. Maybe he reads IconEra :ROFLMAO:

Not even the biggest doomers here claim Sony is struggling right now. They do worry about long term damage to the brand.
But it's easy for hardcore xbots like Shill Up, Endymion and others to twist that concern into a narrative that comforts them.

I put 200 hours into it. best combat system in any open world game period IMO.

I think the game is gorgeous to look at on the Pro. TN don't focus on the fidelity but depth of combat. Look up a high skilled player on Ronin. It hardly even looks like the same game at a certain point.
